Minniecheske producing for Ripon early on

Tigerton High School graduate Monika Minniecheske is earning playing time for Ripon College's volleyball team early in the fall season.

During the Ripon College Quadrangular on Aug. 30 and 31, Ripon played three matches, going 1-2. In a win over Finlandia, Minniecheske tallied six attack kills. She had three kills in a loss to Dominican (Illinois).

Ripon competed in the UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Friday and Saturday, finishing 0-3. In a setback to Lakeland, the Tigerton grad finished with six kills. She had three digs against Elmhurst and two kills against UWSP.

As of Sunday, Minniecheske has accumulated 19 kills across the team's first seven games.

Finger starts season strong

Clintonville graduate and current UW-Superior cross-country runner Tyler Finger earned a 14th-place finish at the Falcon Invitational in River Falls on Friday.

Finger finished the 8,000-meter run in 28 minutes, 53.1 seconds.

UW-Superior took second place at the invitational.
