College Highlights (Oct. 22)

Viterbo

Gillett Secondary School graduate Lauren Herzog turned in a 144th-place finish while running for the Viterbo women’s cross-country team at the Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitational on Oct. 15 in LaCrosse.

Herzog completed the 3.73-mile course in 25 minutes, 2.5 seconds.

Concordia-St. Paul

Pulaski grad Andrew Egnarski led the Concordia University-St. Paul football team with nine total tackles in the team’s loss to Minnesota-Duluth on Oct. 16.

Egnarski was credited with five assisted tackles and four solo tackles. He also returned a kickoff 18 yards.

Rockhurst

Shawano graduate Averi Vomastic helped the Rockhurst University volleyball team to a 2-1 record at the Midwest Region Crossover on Oct. 15-16.

In a win over Walsh on Oct. 15, Vomastic tallied nine attack kills, five digs, three block assists and a solo block.

In a loss to Wayne State on Oct. 16, Vomastic posted seven digs and six attack kills. That same day, the Shawano grad had eight attack kills, eight digs and three service aces in a win over Ashland.

Minnesota Duluth

Pulaski grad Logan Kobus booted a 37-yard punt in the University of Minnesota Duluth football team’s win over Concordia-St. Paul on Oct. 16.

For the season, Kobus is averaging 37.1 yards per punt. He’s pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line nine times.

UW-Whitewater

Shawano graduate Baylie Hansen helped the UW-Whitewater volleyball team to two more wins last week.

In a victory over Dubuque on Oct. 13, Hansen was credited with two digs, two block assists and an attack kill. She had two digs, two block assists and an attack kill against UW-Stevens Point on Oct. 16.

Marian

Tehya Pyawasay, a Menominee Indian grad, put together a pair of strong matches in the Marian University volleyball team’s 0-2 week on the court last week.

Pyawasay had six attack kills and two block assists in a loss to Illinois Tech on Oct. 15. She then tallied five attack kills and two block assists in a loss to Concordia on Oct. 16.

UW-Eau Claire

Bonduel graduate Isaac Garside caught three passes and returned a couple of kickoffs in the UW-Eau Claire football team’s loss to UW-River Falls on Oct. 16.

Garside had a long reception of 23 yards and finished with 39 receiving yards in the contest. He returned two kickoffs for 36 yards.

UW-Stevens Point

Oconto Falls grad Dakota Carriveau had a pair of assisted tackles in the UW-Stevens Point football team’s loss to UW-Stout on Oct. 16.

Carriveau is up to 11 total tackles on the season.

Dubuque

Gillett graduate Riley Engebretsen placed 148th while running for the Dubuque men’s cross-country team at the Augustana Interregional Invitational on Oct. 16 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Engebretsen completed the 8K race with a time of 30:13.7.

North Iowa Area

Oconto Falls graduate Samantha Coron put together several strong matches, but the North Iowa Area Community College volleyball team finished 0-5 last week.

In a loss to Ellsworth on Oct. 13, Coron totaled 23 digs, 16 assists, three aces and six attack kills.

In a setback to Iowa Central on Oct. 15, Coron had 14 assists, three attack kills, four digs and two total blocks. Coron added 22 assists, 13 digs, three attack kills and a block assist in a loss to Central Community College-Columbus later that day.

In a loss against Cowley County on Oct. 16, the Panther grad posted 11 digs, 10 assists and two attack kills. She was credited with 24 assists, 11 digs and three attack kills in a loss to Carl Sandburg College that day.

Carroll

Pulaski grads Joe O’Leary and Jake Binkowski each finished with tackles in the Carroll University football team’s loss to Wheaton on Oct. 16.

O’Leary had three total tackles, including one that resulted in a loss of yards. Binkowski had an assisted tackle on the day.

Central Lakes

Shawano graduate Trace Yeager tallied three total tackles in the Central Lakes College-Brainerd football team’s loss to Itasca Community College on Oct. 16.

Two of the three total tackles were assisted. Yeager was also credited with a ½ sack for a 5-yard loss.

Ripon

Wittenberg-Birnamwood grad Lauren Bahr turned in a couple top finishes for the Ripon women’s swim team in its win over Loras on Oct. 16.

Bahr placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.15 and was also second in the 100 backstroke (1:09.1). She was also on the first-place finishing 200 freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 1:49.31.

St. Norbert

Pulaski graduate Kendall Karcz tallied six total tackles in the St. Norbert football team’s loss to Concordia on Oct. 16.

Karcz was credited with three solo tackles and three assisted tackles. He also had a pass breakup.
