UW-Eau Claire

Suring High School graduate Mitch Stegeman was the top finisher in the men’s decathlon during the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on May 25-27.

Stegeman, who competes for UW-Eau Claire, scored 7,165 points, with the second-place finisher at 7,079 points.

Stegeman won the discus (39.31 meters) and pole vault (4.7 meters). He placed second in the long jump (6.89 meters) and third in the javelin throw (54.82 meters).

Stegeman was the fifth-place finisher in the 1,500-meter run (4 minutes, 39.4 seconds) and high jump (1.87 meters). The Suring grad finished eighth in the 100 (11.27), ninth in the 110 hurdles (15.92) and shot put (11.96 meters) and 13th in the 400 (51.9).

UW-La Crosse

Oconto Falls pitched in both of the UW-La Crosse baseball team’s super regional wins against UW-Stevens Point over the weekend.

Bouche earned the win in UWL’s 10-7 victory on May 26, striking out four batters over 2⅓ innings. He surrendered two hits and two walks.

He allowed two runs in an inning of work in the team’s 16-10 win on May 27. He allowed two hits, while walking none and striking out two.

With its wins, UWL earned a spot in the NCAA Division III World Series. Bouche and the team will head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to play in the world series from June 2-8.
