Saginaw Valley State

Shawano Community High School graduate Tori DePerry played a combined 39 minutes for the Saginaw Valley State University (Michigan) women’s basketball team in a pair of games against Ashland University (Ohio).

In SVSU’s 80-64 loss to Ashland on Jan. 23, DePerry played 20 minutes, posting seven points and three rebounds.

In 19 minutes during the team’s 73-70 win on Jan. 22, the Shawano grad tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Des Moines Area

Christian Haffner, a Gresham graduate and current men’s basketball player for Des Moines Area Community College, earned All-Region XI academic honors from the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

Haffner made the first team, meaning he finished with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Haffner also helped the team to a pair of wins to get the season started. He contributed five points while starting and playing 26 minutes in the team’s 75-70 win over Kirkwood (Iowa) on Jan. 20.

Haffner started and finished with 14 points and four rebounds in an 87-63 win over North Iowa Area Community College on Jan. 23.

Winona State

Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School graduate and current women’s track and field athlete for Winona State Maddy Pietz competed in three events at the Craig Hougen Triangular on Jan. 23 in Bemidji, Minnesota.

Pietz placed second in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.9 seconds before tying for third in the finals (7.93).

Pietz was also on the Winona State 4x400 relay team that placed fourth in 4:19.97. She also competed in the long jump, but didn’t post a distance after fouls on her three attempts.

Winona State finished second as a team with 96.5 points, behind St. Cloud State (102) and ahead of Bemidji State (75.5).

North Iowa Area

Oconto Falls graduate Samantha Coron, who plays for the North Iowa Area Community College women’s volleyball team, helped the team to a sweep of Southwestern Community College (North Carolina) on Jan. 24.

Coron played in all three sets, accumulating two attack kills and six digs.

NIACC won by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-21.

Lindenwood

Oconto Falls graduate and wrestler for the fourth-ranked Lindenwood University (Missouri) team Nate Trepanier earned a pair of wins on Jan. 24 to help the team improve to 4-0.

In the team’s 36-3 win over Ouachita Baptist (Arkansas), Trepanier earned a 10-5 decision win at the 165-pound weight class.

In Lindenwood’s 36-8 win over 20th-ranked Drury University (Missouri), Trepanier earned a 9-5 decision win at the 165 class.

Oakland City

Bowler High graduate Reanne Kietlinski started in three games for the Oakland City University (Indiana) women’s basketball team over the past week.

In an 81-56 win over Alice Lloyd College (Kentucky) on Jan. 23, Kietlinski played 15 minutes. She accumulated four points, four assists and two blocks.

In a 92-38 win over Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg (Kentucky), Kietlinski totaled four points and two steals across 18 minutes.

In a 91-70 setback to Asbury University (Kentucky) on Jan. 19, the Bowler grad tallied 14 points, three assists and five rebounds in 26 minutes of action.
