College Highlights (Feb. 3)

UW-Stevens Point

Oconto Falls graduate Joe Adams, Menominee Indian graduate Guadalupe Corn and Pulaski graduate Lindsey Jossie all represented the UW-Stevens Point track and field teams during the Leonard “Squig” Converse Invitational on Jan. 27-28.

Adams competed in the men’s 5,000-meter run, placing sixth in 16 minutes, 37.08 seconds.

Corn placed 10th in the women’s weight throw (13.93 meters) and 14th in the shot put (10.85 meters).

Jossie placed 14th in the women’s long jump (4.89 meters). She also took 10th in the pentathlon with 2,460 points, placing fifth in the 800 (2:32.55), seventh in the 60 hurdles (10.66) and long jump (4.71 meters), 11th in the high jump (1.31 meters) and 13th in the shot put (6.52 meters).

Pulaski grads T.J. Shaw and Gracie Mihalski each swam in several events for the UWSP swim teams during duals against UW-La Crosse on Jan. 28.

Shaw placed fourth in the men’s 1,000 freestyle (10:40.9), fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:10.15) and 17th in the 100 freestyle (53.24). He was also on the eighth-place finishing 200 freestyle relay team (1:34.1).

Mihalski took 10th in the women’s 50 freestyle (27.87), 13th in the 100 backstroke (1:11.87) and 19th in the 100 freestyle (1:00.75). She was on the 12th-place finishing 200 freestyle relay team (1:51.09).

St. Martin’s University

Gresham grad Christian Haffner played in both of the St. Martin’s men’s basketball team’s wins last week.

Haffner tallied an assist and steal across eight minutes in the team’s win over Western Washington on Jan. 26. He recorded three points, one assist and one steal across 21 minutes in the team’s victory over Simon Fraser on Jan. 28.

Ripon College

Gillett graduate Angela Mosconi competed in the women’s 3,000-meter run for the Ripon track and field team at the Leonard “Squig” Converse Invitational on Jan. 27-28.

Mosconi placed 11th with a time of 11:31.07.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood graduate Lauren Bahr participated in several events for the Ripon women’s swim team at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Jan. 27-28.

Individually, Bahr placed 14th in the 100 backstroke (1:08.86), 15th in the 100 freestyle (1:01.33) and 28th in the 50 freestyle (28.56).

Bahr was also on the fourth-place finishing 400 medley relay (4:28.38) and fifth-place finishing 200 freestyle relay (1:46.5) and 400 freestyle relay (4:01.8).

Cardinal Stritch University

Gillett grad Aubrey DeBauch played in both of the Cardinal Stritch women’s basketball team’s games last week.

In a loss to St. Ambrose on Jan. 25, DeBauch started and played 15 minutes, tallying two rebounds and a steal. DeBauch had three points, six boards and three assists in 19 minutes off the bench in a loss to Oliver Nazarene on Jan. 28.

UW-Green Bay

Witt-Birn graduate McKenna Metropulos continued a strong sophomore season with the UW-Green Bay women’s swim team during a dual loss to UW-Milwaukee on Jan. 28.

Metropulos placed second in the 100 freestyle (53.34) and third in the 50 freestyle (24.54). She was on the third-place finishing 800 freestyle relay (8:08.08) and 200 medley relay (1:50.89).

St. Cloud State University

Pulaski grad Jasmine Litt turned in two strong games off the bench for the St. Cloud State women’s basketball team last week.

In a loss to Augustana on Jan. 27, Litt tallied six points, five rebounds and a steal across only seven minutes of action. Litt totaled six points, five boards and three steals across 15 minutes in a win over Wayne State on Jan. 28.

Wisconsin Lutheran College

Bonduel graduate Kara Troxel continued to start and helped the Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s basketball team to two wins last week.

In a lopsided win over Alverno on Jan. 25, Troxel tallied seven points, two rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist across 15 minutes. Troxel recorded two points, one steal and one rebound across 23 minutes in a win over Rockford on Jan. 28.

Pulaski graduate Trevor Stiede logged 20-plus minutes in each of the WLC men’s basketball team’s games last week.

Stiede contributed 14 points, five rebounds, one steal and one assist across 25 minutes in a win over Lakeland on Jan. 24. In 22 minutes and a two-point win over Rockford on Jan. 28, Stiede tallied eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

St. Norbert College

Lena grad Kennedy Marquardt and Oconto Falls grad Emily Gonnering each competed in multiple events for the St. Norbert women’s track and field team at the Leonard “Squig” Converse Invitational on Jan. 27-28.

Marquardt was on the fifth-place finishing 4x400 relay (4:27.57). Individually, she placed ninth in the 400 (1:02.36).

Gonnering took 25th in the weight throw (12.03 meters) and 30th in the shot put (9 meters).

UW-Parkside

Pulaski graduate Sheridan Flauger helped the UW-Parkside women’s basketball team to a 1-1 record last week.

Flauger played 30 minutes in the team’s win over Davenport on Jan. 26, tallying 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. She had five points, three assists, two steals and a rebound across 30 minutes in a setback to Grand Valley State on Jan. 28.

Concordia University

Bonduel graduate Kalleigh Schroeder competed in a pair of events for the Concordia women’s track and field team at the Spartan Invitational on Jan. 28.

Schroeder placed sixth in the long jump (4.58 meters) and was ninth in the triple jump (9.3 meters).

Shawano grad Rachel Reed played in two of the Concordia women’s basketball team’s games last week.

Reed grabbed a rebound in a minute of action against Dominican on Jan. 25. She then had three points, a block and a rebound in seven minutes against Concordia Nebraska on Jan. 27.

UW-Eau Claire

Suring graduate Mitch Stegeman, Oconto Falls graduate Autumn Canavera and Gillett graduate Ryann Wagner all competed for the UW-Eau Claire track and field teams during the Warren Bowlus Multi on Jan. 27-28.

Stegeman placed first in the men’s heptathlon with a final score of 5,055 points. He placed first in the pole vault (4.65 meters), second in the shot put (11.85 meters) and high jump (1.92 meters), third in the 1,000 run (2:52.82) and 60 hurdles (8.76 seconds), eighth in the 60 dash (7.38 seconds) and long jump (6.22 meters).

Canavera placed 15th in the women’s 3,000 with a time of 11:04.86. Wagner took 33rd in the event with a mark of 11:51.4.

University of Dubuque

Pulaski grad Aaron Hawpetoss participated in two events for the Dubuque men’s track and field team at the Spartan Invitational on Jan. 28.

Hawpetoss claimed 21st in the shot put (11.4 meters) and 25th in the weight throw (10.95 meters).

UW-Milwaukee

Shawano graduate Isabel Roloff competed in three events for the UW-Milwaukee women’s track and field team at the Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 27-28.

Roloff placed second in the pole vault after clearing 3.52 meters. She was sixth in the 50 dash with a time of 7.84 seconds and took 16th in the 200 with a mark of 26.94 seconds.

Bemidji State University

Shawano grad Brooke Theis and Pulaski grade Isabel Majewski each played for the Bemidji State women’s basketball team in its two games last week.

Majewski tallied nine points and one assist across 18 minutes, while Theis had two rebounds, a block and a steal across six minutes in the team’s loss to Southwest Minnesota State on Jan. 27.

Majewski totaled 15 points and two rebounds across 16 minutes, while Theis had two points and three boards in 22 minutes in a win over Sioux Falls on Jan. 28.

Majewski has played in 19 games this season, with averages of 4.7 points and 1.2 rebounds. Theis has played in 15 games, with averages of 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds.

UW-Platteville

Pulaski grad Kayla Lipsey and Eian Ziemer each participated in the Spartan Invitational on Jan. 28 while representing the UW-Platteville track and field teams.

Lipsey placed third in the women’s 60 hurdles (9.89 seconds) and 22nd in the shot put (8.17 meters). Ziemer took 23rd in the men’s 200 (25.04 seconds) and 29th in the 60 (7.81 seconds).

Saginaw Valley State University

Shawano graduate Tori DePerry helped the Saginaw Valley State women’s basketball team to a win over Wayne State on Jan. 28.

DePerry started and played 33 minutes, totaling 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

St. Mary’s University of Minnesota

Shawano grad Peyton Buerman earned two wins for the St. Mary’s University women’s tennis team during a 9-0 victory over Martin Luther on Jan. 28.

Buerman tallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 win at No. 4 singles. She and partner Ella Boomgaarden won 8-0 in No. 3 doubles action.
