CLINTONVILLE — After finishing off solid high school careers with big senior seasons, Clintonville High School seniors Aiden Polzin and Erin Viergutz were each rewarded with roster spots for the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Polzin is a member of the Division 3 Red team that will take on the White team at about 12:30 p.m. on June 20.

Viergutz is on the Division 3 North team, which is scheduled to battle the South team at about 12:30 p.m. on June 19.

Both games are slated to be played at JustAGame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells.

“It’s definitely gonna be special moment for me,” said Polzin. “It’s the best kids in the state for D3 and I’m gonna be playing with them and competing against them as well.”

“It’s a big honor and a great opportunity for me,” said Viergutz. “I’d like to thank my coach (Nick Yaeger) for nominating me. He has always pushed me to be a better player.”

Polzin said he had a conversation with Black River Falls coach David Cowley — one of the three coaches for Polzin’s team — about what else would be going on during the two days the all-stars would be in the Dells. Aside from practice, the players will also get to spend time together at a water park and restaurants.

“It will definitely be a good time and I’m happy I get to end my high school career on a good note,” said Polzin.

“I’m excited for everything,” said Viergutz. “This will be a great learning experience for me to improve myself as a player for when I play in college at Concordia University.”

Polzin and Viergutz each made the North Eastern Conference first team this winter, with Polzin doing so unanimously. Polzin also made the WBCA honorable mention team.

During the regular season, Polzin averaged 21.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He also led the NEC in points per game (21.0).

Viergutz posted averages of 18.6 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. She finished fourth in conference play in scoring (18.1) and second in rebounds (10.6).
