Carol J. Mandel
Carol J. Mandel, 82, of New London, formerly of Shawano, passed away on Jan. 7, 2024, at St. Joseph Residence.
Carol was born on Dec. 23, 1941, to the late Herbert and Adeline (Eiting) Niesen in Kaukauna. She was a graduate of Kaukauna High School. After high school, she worked raising her family as well as working as a cook at several area restaurants. She also spent time volunteering at her kids’ school. On Oct. 16, 1998, she married Henry “Hank” Mandel in Little Chute. Hank preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2014.
Carol loved cooking and baking. She enjoyed doing numerous types of crafts as well as crocheting and reading. She loved her home on Legend Lake as well as gardening and growing flowers.
She will be sadly missed by her children and stepchildren, Todd (Andrea) Williamson, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pauline Ho, of Grand Chute, Julie (Gene) Wild, of the Town of Center, Mark (Lisa) Williamson, of Kimberly, and Scott (Sue) Mandel, Debra (Paul) Schmidt, Peter (Jean) Mandel, Pam Schmidt and Todd (Karen) Mandel, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is further survived by siblings, Kathy Neuman, Jim (Diane) Niesen, Viginia Holbrook, Eileen (Peter) Gossen and Jodi (Ken) Schott, as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hank; one son, Timothy “Willy” Williamson; one grandchild; sisters, Mary Jo Gellerman and Barbara Braun; and brothers-in-law, Sam Neuman and Ross Holbrook.
There will be a memorial service for Carol on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at 6 p.m. at Wichmann Funeral Home of Appleton with Deacon Ray Ambrosius officiating.
