Caleb Bembenek was named the new athletic director for the high school and middle school in Tigerton.

Bembenek replaces Lance Litchfield, who accepted an AD position at Cochrane-Fountain City.

Bembenek will be entering his first AD job after graduating from UW-Stevens Point with a focus on physical education.

“I am very comfortable with the small-town atmosphere and what all comes with the community,” said Bembenek, who grew up and went to high school in Rosholt. “I feel I bring a lot of passion and energy with me into this position. I really enjoy having fun and impacting lives in any way I can.”

Bembenek served as a coach the past five years. He was an assistant baseball coach at Rosholt and also volunteered with the school’s wrestling team.

Bembenek, who participated in football, wrestling, baseball and track in high school, was the head coach of a travel baseball team through Velocity Clubhouse, a sports training center in Stevens Point. He also coached the Stevens Point Legion baseball team.

Bembenek hopes to bring back competitiveness to Tigerton athletics. “I want to get the youth activities going again. Teach them the drive, the fundamentals and the work ethic to be successful. And it may not happen right away, but it’s something I want to get working on right away.”

The new athletic director is excited for the opportunity and is eager to get started, even though the pandemic provides an extra obstacle.

“I want to start applying my experience and knowledge and start having fun doing what I know I will love.”

Litchfield, who also served as the Marion/Tigerton football coach, served as the Tigerton AD for the past three years. He believed he was ready to move on to a little bigger school, and Cochrane-Fountain City provided him that opportunity.

He enjoyed putting schedules together so that Tigerton athletes would be put in positions to succeed and excel.

“I also enjoyed meeting many officials, parents and colleagues at my time in Tigerton,” said Litchfield. “I wish the new AD good luck, especially in these unprecedented times.”
