The Bonduel High School girls golf team heads into the fall season with several experienced golfers on the roster that will lead the team and a few others that will look to fill in where needed.

With four starters back from last year and five additional golfers also in the mix, coach Duke Copp is ready to get the season underway.

“We are excited to have nine girls golfing this year. Competition for the last few varsity spots should be really competitive,” said Copp.

Seniors Sydney Luepke and Haylee Van Allen, junior Ava Pleshek and sophomore Thea Tauchen all started for the Bears last fall.

Luepke and Pleshek served as the team’s top golfers during most meets and invites, and the duo will look to do the same this season.

Along with turning in the best rounds possible and striving toward a spot on an all-conference team, Luepke is also hoping to serve as a leader in her final high school season.

“We have some new young golfers going out — I’m hoping to help them improve,” said Luepke, who was the team’s top finisher at regionals. “I’m also hoping to help mold everyone into a team this year.”

The five new golfers will try and help the team improve upon its last-place finish in the Bay Conference and at regionals. Junior Priscila Lagunes, sophomores Sarah Garside, Dorca Santana and Kerry O’Harrow and freshman Ella Hischke form the list of new golfers.

“Challenges are to get newcomers learning golf as quickly as possible so they can enjoy playing while also improving enough to compete,” said Copp.
