Bonduel girls cross-country team 2nd at Don Chase Relays

The Bonduel High School girls cross-country team posted a score of 35 to place second at the Don Chase Relays on Thursday in Weyauwega.

Kara Troxel led Bonduel with a third-place finish in 21 minutes, 29 seconds.

Ashlyn Kurey (22:22) and Kalleigh Schroeder (22:53) placed sixth and 10th, respectively. Kendra Troxel (23:11) took 12th and Breanna Schnell (24:09) 15th to round out the team score.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys claimed third place with a score of 82. Tommy Bruski was the team’s top finisher, claiming third in 18:04. Simon Schairer finished sixth in 18:46.

Nash Wojnowiak (19:18), Ian Resch (20:36) and Ian Salveson (20:37) capped the team score, placing 16th, 28th and 29th, respectively.

The Witt-Birn girls took fourth, led by Ruby Nowinsky, who took 17th in 24:58.

Annika Resch (25:56) placed 20th and Lauren Dombeck (28:17) was 27th. Ava Wepner (29:39) claimed 31st, while Amelia Bessert (31:02) was 35th.

The Bonduel boys took fifth as a team with a score of 116. Jack Johnson led the Bears with a 11th-place finish in 18:56, while Cooper Uelmen was 14th in 18:59.

Ayden Dunst (20:04), Ben O’Brien (21:12) and Alex Jasch (21:32) rounded out the team score, placing 22nd, 35th and 36th, respectively.

Marion also competed, but didn’t qualify for any team scores.

Jaden Stuhr (20:41) was the top Marion boys finisher, taking 31st. Jesse Trebus (23:36), Jackson Krohn (23:53) and Jack VanKooy (28:49) took 44th, 46th and 52nd, respectively.

Kelsey Zillmer (29:40), Haiyle Larson (32:35) and Claire Brei (35:05) ran for the Marion girls, finishing 32nd, 37th and 38th, respectively.
