Bonduel boys basketball team defeated by Marathon in sectional final

Bonduel’s boys basketball team ended their season at 26-2 after a 68-61 loss to Marathon in the sectional finals March 9.

Marathon held a slim 29-24 lead at the intermission and added to their final margin of victory with a 39-37 second half.

Noah Weier led the Bears with 20 points, followed by Race Anvelink’s 13 points and Quinn Wessenberg’s 10 points. Carter Moesch and Colin Margelofsky each contributed four points, while Cade Johnson added two.

During the year, the Bears were led by Ryan Westrich with an average of 15.6 points per game, followed by Anvelink with 14.9 and Weier with 12.8.

Westrich also led with an average 8.9 rebounds per game, and Weier hauled in 5.7. Margelofsky averaged 6.1 assists per game, and Weier averaged 4.5.

Bonduel 76, Oconto 59

Ryan Westrich scored 29 points and Race Anvelink had 22 to lead Bonduel to a 76-59 win over Oconto in the WIAA sectional semifinals in Green Bay on March 7.

Anvelink’s points included six 3-pointers, and Cade Johnson had a pair as part of his eight points.

The Bears (26-1) advanced to the March 9 sectional final against Marathon at D.C. Everest.
