Bonduel boys, girls to compete at state cross country meet

Wittenberg-Birnamwood girls will also race

Division 1 and Division 3 sectionals

Pulaski’s Olivia Stedl captured third place overall at the sectional race and will represent the Red Raiders at the state cross country meet Nov. 2.

Sectional racing was held at Meadow Links Golf Course in Manitowoc and was hosted by Manitowoc Lincoln and Lutheran High School.

Stedl finished the race in 19:21.9. The Red Raiders placed eighth overall.

Other runners for Pulaski were Addie Bruckert in 20th in 20:27.7, Cameran Reiss was 40th in 21:44.9, Briana Anundsen was 57th in 22:43.6, and Estella Vieaux placed 66th in 23:33.6.

Arden Gillen will represent the boys at state as he placed 13th in 16:33.4. The team placed fifth.

Also scoring for the Red Raiders were Daniel Augustine, 23rd, 17:06.4; Grayden Goosen, 24th, 17:06.7; Parker Marshall, 30th, 17:14.5; and Mitchell Pilon, 42nd, 17:40.7.

Rounding out the team were Dayne Groth in 44th in 17:46.1 and Peyton Yaw in 50th in 18:13.7.

Division 3 sectional

It was a huge day for the Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Bonduel girls cross country teams as both advanced to the state meet after running in the sectionals at Colby.

The Chargers won the meet with 72 points, followed by Bonduel in second with 87. But, it was Bonduel junior Mariah Wondra who claimed first place overall with a time of 19:26.5.

Rory Salvesen led her team, placing fourth in 20:02.6. Also in the top 10 were Harper Krull in sixth in 20:31.7 and Nora Bushman in eighth in 20:36.4. Gabrielle Timm finished in 12th place in 21:48.9, and Jayden Zeinert was 53rd in 24:57.8.

Joining Wondra in scoring for the Bears were Teagan Engel in ninth in 20:39.6, Hailey Berg in 14th in 22:14.8, Cierra Schnell in 31st in 23:46.5 and Kember Frome in 32nd in 23:50.5.

Rounding out the team were Seidy Blandon in 41st place in 24:51 and Taylor Rank in 49th in 25:07.2.

Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy placed eighth with 186 points.

Scoring for them were Aspynn Anderson in 13th place in 21:59.5, Della Kostreva in 36th in 24:26, Madilyn Thomson in 39th in 24:49, Alexis Maloney in 40th in 24:50.4 and Haley VanArk in 58th in 26:13.1.

Also running for Lena were Kali Fischer, 65th, 26:53.7, and Hannah Thomson, 71st, 28:52.5.

Local individual runners were Gillett sophomore Hope Soper, 15th place, 21:38; Suring junior Ginger Gerndt, 26th, 22:53.9; Gillett senior Lily Hansen, 27th, 22:56.5; Wolf River Lutheran sophomore Violet Buchholz, 33rd, 23:18.4; Gillett junior Sophia Limberg, 44th, 24:08.9; Gillett sophomore Maggie Kaczmarek, 57th, 25:02.9; Marion sophomore Bella Conover, 69th, 25:35.1; Marion senior Bridget Much, 71st, 25:48; Suring sophomore Natalie Seibert, 26:09.5; and Suring freshman Ada Jantz, 78th, 26:19.6.

The Bonduel boys team will also advance to the state meet after claiming second place with 65 points.

Race Anvelink led his Bears teammates, finishing in seventh place in 17:35.5. Also scoring were Oliver Chitwood in 10th in 17:54.3, Gage Anderson in 11th in 17:54.8, Griffin Uelmen in 14th in 18:11.8 and Joah Dworniczak in 23rd in 18:45.

Also competing for Bonduel were Garrett Anderson, who placed 31st in 19:11.6, and Ben Reisner, who finished 54th in 20:29.2.

Gillett junior Bradyn Wendorff will compete at the state meet, as he placed fourth in 16:47.7.

The Wittenberg-Birnamwood boys were ninth. Scoring for the Chargers were Milo Salvesen in 37th in 19:38.9, Jonas Bushman in 42nd in 19:44.6, Mary Nowinsky in 43rd in 10:45.2, Landon Meronk in 44th in 10:59.2 and Taras Guk in 48th in 20:08.4.

Also running were Colten Mueller in 56th in 20:58.4 and Hayden Miller in 59th in 21:07.8.

Suring’s team placed 11th with 326 points. Scoring for the Eagles were Riley Thomson in 61st in 21:29.2, Blake DeGrave in 63rd in 21:59.2, Liam Matelski in 64tth in 22:01.6, Garrett School in 65th in 22:11.1 and Skylar Bristol in 73rd in 26:27.4.

Individual competitors were Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy’s Mason Belongia, who placed 29th in 18:46; Gillett’s Scott Herroux, who placed 58th in 20:09; Gillett’s Nash Stage, who finished 66th in 20:40; Marion’s Tristan Herro, who finished 71st in 21:02.1; Lena’s Dash Comins, 75th, 21:14.3; Wolf River Lutheran’s Ryan Drengler, 76th, 21:18.1; Lena’s Dane Comins, 77th, 21:19.5; Gresham/Bowler’s Mason Martin, 85th, 22:27.8; and Lena’s Cooper Malloy, 94th, 24:13.9.

The state meet will be held Nov. 2 in Wisconsin Rapids.
