Bonduel senior Kara Troxel passed the 1,000-point milestone for her high school career during the team’s 71-28 Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division matchup against Menominee Indian on Jan. 19 in Bonduel.

“It’s just an amazing feeling,” said Troxel. “I never thought that I’d be able to get to this point. Just having the entire community here to support me is just awesome. I’m glad I could do it at home.”

“You just have to keep grinding it out during practices, and working together with your teammates,” said Troxel on the work it took over her high school career to reach 1,000 points. “You can’t slack off ever or take off during the summers. You have to keep working hard, otherwise you’ll lose all the momentum you gained throughout the year, and that’s what I’ve been doing.”

Needing just four points to reach the milestone, Troxel wasted little time. She converted a three-point play for Bonduel’s first points in the contest and then hit a jumper near the free throw line about four minutes into the game to pass 1,000 points.

Troxel went on to score 17 points in the game.

“I think it’s a pretty big accomplishment, 1,000 points,” said Bonduel coach Jerry Reinke. “She’s worked extremely hard to get to this point. I’m sure her teammates are very happy for her. She’s a very unselfish player.

“She’s just an awesome kid to coach, and I couldn’t be happier for her.”

Bonduel’s Allaina Robaidek led the Bears with 18 points, while Ella Hischke, Erin Timler and Meghan Wondra all chipped in eight points.

Alezaha King scored 14 points to lead Menominee Indian on the offensive end.
