Bears take down Chargers

May 18

New London 4, Shawano 3

Crew Weisnicht hit 2-for-4 with a double in the Hawks’ 4-3 loss to New London.

Pete Bruette also had a double for Shawano.

Warner Beyer took the loss on the mound, as Shawano dropped to 12-8.

May 17

Bonduel 5, Wittenberg-Birnamwood 3

Bonduel wrapped up at least a share of the CWC East title with a 5-3 win at Wittenberg.

Starting pitcher Conner Meverden homered in the fourth giving the Chargers a 3-1 lead. Bonduel answered that with one run in the fifth and three in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. Mason Zuleger singled to tie the score, and the other runs scored on an error.

Noah Weier then shut down the Chargers in the sixth and seventh innings with relief help from Brodie Hartmann.

Mason Zuleger had two hits for the Bears, and Weier doubled. Karson Stoss and Charlie Tauchen had Bonduel’s other two hits.

Owen Dickman doubled and Meverden homered for the Chargers.

Bonduel is now 18-3 and 12-1 in CWC East.

Freedom 11, Oconto Falls 0

Logan Berg hit 1-for-2 in the Panthers’ 11-0 loss to Freedom.

Trace Breher was the losing pitcher, giving up seven runs (three earned) on five hits in 3 1/3 innings, while striking out three and walking three.

May 16

Shawano 5, Seymour 2

Ayden Bystol got the win on the mound and Tom Keszo got the save in Shawano’s 5-2 win over Seymour.

Warner Beyer, Keszo, Parker Beyer and Dylan Hodkiewicz all hit 2-for-3.
