Q: When did your interest in volleyball begin?

A: I have always had an interest in volleyball. As a kid, I enjoyed watching my grandma (Kelly Hauser) coach it. When I was finally old enough to play, my interest became more serious, and I’ve loved it ever since.

Q: What is your favorite part about the volleyball season?

A: My favorite part about the volleyball season is just getting to be on the court. Once the season is over, it’s a very long wait until the net is back up. Saying this is my senior year, I am trying to enjoy every last second.

Q: What has volleyball taught you over the years?

A: Over the years, volleyball has not only taught me skills such as teamwork, but it also taught me how to play a game with passion. I would have never seen myself screaming and cheering, in front of a crowd, but when you’re on the court it’s so natural.

Q: What did you do to prepare for the volleyball season?

A: To prepare for the volleyball season, I like to just get a ball in my hands. Whether it’s for 5 minutes or an hour, I find it very beneficial. I believe doing this also increases your motivation and confidence for the season.

Q: As a senior, how do you try to lead the rest of the team?

A: As a senior, I try to be the best role model I can be. I believe, as a leader, it’s important to motivate your teammates and make sure everyone’s confidence is up.

Q: Do you have any individual goals for your final season, and how do you plan on achieving those?

A: I have many individual goals, but my main priority for my final season is to play every game like it’s my last because eventually, it will be.

Q: Several weeks into the season now, where are some areas the team is hoping to improve on?

A: One thing our team is working to improve on is our adaptation skills because every team we compete against is different. I believe it is important to know how to adapt to the different skill levels we face, so that no matter what we play a great game.

Q: Before a match starts, do you or the team have any routines or rituals you go through?

A: Absolutely! Once we are done with our pre-game pep talk, it’s a Tigerton volleyball tradition to gather into a jumping huddle and chant our team’s cheer. It really gets the team’s attitude and energy up.

Q: What’s your favorite memory of competing on the Tigerton volleyball team?

A: I think my favorite memory would have to be receiving the phone call from my coach, congratulating me on earning first team all-conference, as a junior.

Q: Favorite movie, TV show, and musical artist?

A: Movie — “Mamma Mia” (2008). TV show — “Outer Banks.” Musical artist — Many of my favorite songs are written by The Lumineers.

Q: Name one thing about yourself that not many people know.

A: My dream job would be: getting paid to travel around the world.

Q: What are some things you hope to accomplish after graduating high school?

A: After I graduate high school, I would like to get further education, find a job I love, and overall have some fun, and I am definitely hoping that volleyball will still be a part of my life, in the future.
