Shawano senior ready to guide team to strong season

The Shawano Community High School football team is hoping to continue the momentum it built up during a playoff-qualifying season in 2019. Senior Gage Timm will play a big role in the success of the team this year, serving as the team’s quarterback and safety.

Timm got his season off to a strong start this past Friday, having a hand in all four of Shawano’s touchdowns in a 27-0 Bay Conference road win over Seymour.

Timm threw two touchdowns and ran for two others, finishing with more than 100 passing yards and adding over 50 rushing yards.

The senior is entering his third season as the team’s quarterback. Timm finished with over 1,000 passing yards as a junior and accounted for 12 offensive touchdowns. He ended the season by tossing three touchdowns in a playoff game against West De Pere.

Q: When did your interest in football begin?

A: My interest in football started when I was around 8.

Q: What is your favorite part about the football season?

A: My favorite part of the season is definitely the first game of every season.

Q: What has football taught you over the years?

A: Football has taught me that when everyone works towards one goal, you can accomplish much greater things.

Q: As a senior, how will you try and lead the team, yet also enjoy your final season?

A: Keeping the team focused during practice so that when it comes time for a game everyone knows what they have to do. And when everyone does what they need to, we will put ourselves in the position to win, and everyone enjoys winning.

Q: What are the team’s keys to success this season?

A: Our keys to success this year are being able to run our base plays all game and still get yards every time.

Q: What’s your favorite memory of competing on the Shawano football team?

A: My favorite memory with Shawano football is beating Seymour my junior year during homecoming.

Q: What are you going to miss most about high school football?

A: I’m going to miss the brotherhood with the team and knowing everyone has your back.

Q: Favorite TV show, movie and musical artist?

A: TV show —“All American.” Movie — “Remember the Titans.” Musical artist — Hank Williams Jr.

Q: Name one thing about yourself that not many people know.

A: When I graduate high school, I will still be 17.

Q: What’s the greatest piece of advice you have ever been told?

A: “If you don’t have time to do it right, then you must have time to do it again.”

Q: What are some things you hope to accomplish after graduating high school?

A: After high school, I am hoping to go and play football at the college level.
