Annette J. Splinter

By:

Annette J. Splinter, 65, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2021, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton, surrounded by her loving family.

Annette was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Superior, a daughter of the late Andrew and Antoinette (Worm) Sislo. She attended school in Superior, graduating from Superior Senior High School with the Class of 1974. Annette married Eugene Ritchie in Superior in October 1976. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Wausau, then Phillips. When her children started school, Annette enrolled at North Central Technical College where she earned her degree and became a registered nurse. Annette worked as a nurse her entire career until fully retiring in January 2021 due to health reasons.

On July 10, 1999, Annette was united in marriage to Gene Splinter in Shawano where the couple made their home. “Netter,” as she was affectionately known by family, loved her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. They all loved her, too. She enjoyed cheering for the Packers, collecting anything with penguins and gardening. Annette made several international trips with her son, Jason. She greatly enjoyed the trips and talked about them long after returning home.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Gene Splinter, of Shawano; her children, Jason Ritchie, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Eric Ritchie, of Fond du Lac, and Cassandra (Rod) Splinter-Watson, of Wisconsin Rapids; three grandchildren, Lincoln, Charlotte and Eleanora Watson; her siblings, Barbara Turoski, Teri (Frank) Landolina, Michael Sislo, Joseph (Kathy) Sislo and Susan Winslow; her sister-in-law, Judy (Jim) Oberstein, of Shawano; her brother-in-law, James (Cheri) Splinter, of Superior; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Annette will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021, at noon at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Pastor Mark Drengler will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and continue until the time of service.

A memorial fund in Annette’s name will be established by her family.

Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements. Please share online condolences at www.mickelsonfs.com.
