Shawano County supervisors are expected to approve a zoning request July 24 that would allow for the construction of a school for the Amish community near Cecil.
Daniel Mast, acting as an agent for property owners Henry Stutzman and Allen Lambright, requested a zone change on a 2.09-acre parcel on Old Road 22 at state Highway 22 in the Town of Washington.
Currently, the site is vacant agricultural crop land.
“The other school got full, and we decided we need another one,” Mast told the Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning (PDZ) Committee on July 3.
The proposed school was approved by the Town of Washington on June 3 and the PDZ on July 3.
