Ambulance service hosting open house

Shawano Ambulance Service will be hosting an open house to showcase its new facility located at 220 N. Main St. in Shawano on Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A short presentation will take place at 10:30 a.m.

The organization spent more than two years planning and constructing the facility, which houses five ambulances and is staffed with three crews 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The new station was designed to be highly energy efficient and self-supporting with a backup generator and its own fuel supply for the ambulances. It was sized to meet the needs of the community for years to come, but also has the capacity for expansion if needed.
