An Abrams man was being held in the Oconto County Jail on charges he sexually assaulted a girl numerous times over a period of years.

Michael James Kriescher, 43, was charged in Oconto County Circuit Court on Nov. 9 with repeated sexual assault of the same child, first-degree sexual assault of a child younger than 13 and a third related charge. Judge Jay N. Conley set bail at $50,000 cash and adjourned Kriescher’s initial appearance until Nov. 17.

According to the criminal complaint, Oconto Falls Police detective and school resource officer Jamie Kuhn received a report Nov. 3 that a 12-year-old girl said Kriescher had sexually assaulted her and allegedly had regularly assaulted her since she was in first grade.

A forensic interview with the girl was conducted the next day at the Willow Tree Cornerstone Child Advocacy Center in Green Bay, where she provided further details.

Deputies arrested Kriescher without incident later in the day Nov. 4, and he “objected to the charges,” according to the complaint.

If convicted, Kriescher faces a sentence of up to 60 years for repeated sexual assault of a child, including a minimum 25 years incarceration.
