5 drivers crowned on speedway’s championship night

Yarie, Teske, Anvelink, Stedjee, Michonski win final features

Five drivers were crowned champions after the final night of Shawano Speedway racing on Sept. 3.

Ron Berna won the Late Model title, while Jordan Bartz claimed the IMCA Modified class. Jeffery Teske capped a strong year at the speedway by claiming the IMCA Sport Mod class. Trent Nolan also had a big year on his way to winning the IMCA Stock Car class, while Tanner Westphal won the Mighty 4 class.

Berna and Bartz won their titles in similar fashions, with lots of strong finishes to offset not winning a feature race.

Berna finished in the top five in 10 of the 13 feature races he was a part of. He placed in the top 10 on 12 occasions.

Berna tallied 582 points on the season, 21 points ahead of Luke Postl. Brett Swedberg came in third, while Joel Bennett was fourth and Kyle Raddant fifth.

On championship night, Nick Anvelink won the Late Model feature race. Gunner Frank was second, while Troy Springborn took third. Berna claimed fourth and Justin Ritchie was fifth.

Bartz won the IMCA Modified class after finishing in the top five six times in her 13 feature races. She placed inside the top 10 on 11 occasions.

She scored 450 points for the season, edging out Konnor Wilinski, who scored 446. Jerry Wilinski came in third, Andy Karl claimed fourth and Mike Schmidt was fifth.

Marcus Yarie won the IMCA Modified feature on championship night at the speedway. Jayden Schmidt placed second, while Kevin Feck was third. Konnor Wilinski and Jordan Bartz rounded out the top five.

Teske claimed the IMCA Sport Mod class after winning seven feature races this year. He placed inside the top 10 in 14 of his 15 races, and was inside the top five on 13 occasions.

Teske scored 529 points on the season, 17 points ahead of Tyler Sobiesczyk, who won three features. Travis Rhoades finished third, Dustin Wudstrack took fourth and Bryce Clements was fifth.

Teske capped the year with a feature win on championship night, with Sobiesczyk in second. Matthew Radtke claimed third, Wudstrack fourth and J.J. Vanderloop fifth.

Nolan won five features this year to emerge as the IMCA Stock Car champion. He was inside the top 10 in all 14 of his races, landing inside the top five on 12 occasions.

Nolan’s big year earned him 488 points, 15 ahead of Travis Van Straten. Kyle Frederick finished third in the class, while Vern Stedjee and Dylan Stedjee rounded out the top five.

Dylan Stedjee won the final feature race in the IMCA Stock Car class. Chummy Arneson was second, while Nolan was third. Mitch Stankowski finished fourth and Tyler Wendt was fifth.

Tanner Westphal won five feature races to win the Mighty 4 class title. He placed in the top 10 in 13 of 14 races, and finished fifth or better on 12 occasions.

Westphal scored 529 points for the season, 23 ahead of Carl King. Alexis Michonski placed third, Lucas Hacker was fourth and Justin Haufe took fifth.

Nate Michonski won the feature race on championship night. Nathan Lisowe claimed second, while Bailey Tate was third. Kasey Gross and King rounded out the top five, while Westphal came in eighth.
