4-H member from Krakow wins $1,000 scholarship
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation awarded Amber Seitz, of Krakow, a $1,000 Oscar G. and Mary M. Woelfel Memorial Scholarship.
Seitz has been active in her 4-H Club in Oconto County for 10 years. Her projects are focused on livestock and agriculture, showing swine, sheep and dairy cows at the county fair and state fair. She has held several leadership positions including Oconto County 4-H Leader’s Association secretary and president of her 4-H club.
Seitz is graduating high school and plans to attend UW-River Falls to major in animal science to become a U.S. Department of Agriculture meat inspector. Outside of 4-H, she has also been involved in Leo Club, National Honor Society, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, marching band and FFA.
One of Seitz’s most impactful 4-H activities has been volunteering at the Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm, where she was able to support people learning about agriculture and share her passion with others.
“Our 4-H youth exemplify true leaders,” said Brenda Scheider, director of development for the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. “Amber is a great example of a young person who is using the skills learned through 4-H to ‘make the best better.’ I know that our future is bright because of our 4-H youth.”
The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation awards scholarships annually to outstanding Wisconsin students pursuing higher education. Scholarship recipients are selected based on demonstrated personal growth, development and leadership, academic performance and future educational goals. This year, $29,000 in scholarships was awarded.
