2020 Sunset Concert Series lineup set

OCONTO FALLS — The lineup is already set for the 2020 Music by the River Sunset Concert Series hosted by the Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

The popular outdoor series has been staged at East Side Beach for several years now on the last Friday evening in June, July and August.

Chamber President Gail Yatso unveiled the 2020 plan during the organization’s annual meeting Thursday at Oconto Falls City Hall.

The Cougars have been booked for June 26, Cat 5 is scheduled to perform July 24, and the series will wrap up with The Presidents, which Yatso described as the No. 1 requested band in the Fox Valley.

“We hope to get them a little exposure up here,” she said.

The Oshkosh-based six-man band describes its style as “an eclectic mix of rock songs ranging from classic to contemporary.”

Participants at the annual meeting gave the OK to explore the idea of a privately funded expansion of the pavilion at East Side Beach. Chamber Vice President Adam Ascher plans to meet with city officials, contractors, and probably representatives from the state Department of Natural Resources, since the project would involve construction close to the waters of the Oconto River.

Yatso asked for help in updating a sign at Lotter’s Park near the north city limits, which contains medallions for a number of local clubs and organizations, to make sure all of the groups are still active.

One change will be to the “Oconto Falls Chamber of Commerce” logo; the group changed its name to Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce a number of years ago. Another might be the Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; the medical center changed its name to HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in 2014.

A revision of the chamber bylaws was also approved, with the most significant changes changing the name of the executive committee to the board of directors, and the board will choose its own officers.
