2 juveniles facing charges after drug deal goes bad
SHAWANO — Two juveniles are facing charges after an apparent drug deal led to a disturbance and gunfire in the city Thursday, according to the Shawano Police Department.
Police were dispatched to a disturbance where shots were reportedly fired in the area of Center and Union streets shortly before 11 a.m.
The investigation determined an alleged drug deal turned into a disturbance at a residence in the 400 block of East Center Street.
“A disturbance of some type occurred, and one shot was fired into a wall by a 16-year-old Tigerton boy,” Police Chief Dan Mauel said. “No one was injured and a handgun was recovered.”
The 16-year-old was taken into custody and will be referred to juvenile authorities for recklessly endangering safety, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and intent to deliver marijuana near a school or park.
A 17-year-old Marion boy will be referred to the district attorney’s office for the same drug charges.
The investigation is still ongoing and other charges could be referred, Mauel said.
