‘Clock Church’ plans Christmas cantata

A Christmas cantata titled “Hope Awakes in Bethlehem” is scheduled for four performances next week by an ecumenical choir at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main Street, Gillett.

The cantata, a musical performance with narration, will be performed at 7 p.m. Dec. 14-16 and 2 p.m. Dec. 17. The program features many traditional Christmas songs in addition to some newer contemporary selections.

Songs like “Joy to the World” and “The First Noel” are included plus newer favorites like “All is Well” and “Hope Awakes in Bethlehem.” The 45-minute presentation is followed by a short audience singalong of traditional holiday hymns.

The cantata features Kayla Blumreich, Micki Carlson, Brenda Danielson, John Darga, Judy Darga, Mary DeJung, Matt Denkert, Clair Erb, LuAnn Erb, Jason Fenendael, Jenny Fenendael, Anita Graziano, Maddy Holmes, Carol Jossie, Darlene Kapelke, Patti Konkle, Emily Limberg, Brenda Mouzón, Joe Quade, Daryl Schroeder, Patty Stabbe, Claudette Tipton, Bonnie Tousey, Chique Tousey-Tabar, Mark Vorpahl, Wendy Vorpahl, Cathy Wocking, Sandy Wright, Doug Yahnke and Rick Zill.

Wayne A. Strei directs the production, and Dan Wright is the technical director. There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be accepted. St. John’s Lutheran Church is handicapped-accessible to all.
