Wittenberg-Birnamwood picked up a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division road win over Weyauwega-Fremont on Thursday.

Austin Gibson led the way for Witt-Birn, scoring 26 points. Gibson made nine field goals and eight free throws.
Brendan Resch added 15 points for the Chargers, while Logan Balliett tallied 10 points. Jack Fraaza and Simon Stewart each posted eight points.

WASP swimmers claim strong finishes in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH — The Wittenberg Area Swim Program earned several top 10 finishes while competing in the Oshkosh Winter Open Meet on Feb. 8-9.

Kelsie Davis led WASP with a second place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke. Kiona Kahaleuatke, Faith Resch and Gabby Timm came in third in the 25 backstroke, 50 freestyle and 25 freestyle, respectively.

Kahaleuatke also had a fourth place finish in the 25 freestyle, while Ava Hegewald took fourth in the 200 breaststroke. Timm, Davis and Bella Hegewald all had a fifth-place finish.

Oakland City

Bowler High School graduate Reanne Kietlinski continued to put up solid numbers despite the Oakland City University women’s basketball team dropping a pair of games over the past week.

In a 78-65 loss to Grace Christian on Feb. 8, Kietlinski totaled 14 points, two steals, one block, two assists and five rebounds in 30 minutes of action. Kietlinski knocked down five field goals, including two 3-pointers, and added two free throws.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Menominee Indian 74

Manawa 38

Menominee Indian rolled to a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover win over Manawa on Tuesday in Keshena.

Mimi Beaulieu-Morgan scored 29 points to power Menominee Indian on the offensive end. Senihseah Wayka added 16 points, while Kaysha Wilber chipped in 10 points.

Athlete Profile: Wylee Dodge

BOWLER — As the Bowler High School boys basketball program is constructed by new coach Ted Kietlinski, the team will be looking for players to build around. Sophomore Wylee Dodge will be one of those players.

According to Kietlinski, Dodge is a hard worker looking to get into the gym all the time. The sophomore has also shown promise on the court for the Panthers this winter, contributing over six points and three rebounds per game.

Bonduel 52

Algoma 33

Bonduel pulled away in the second half for a nonconference win over Algoma on Monday in Bonduel.

Allaina Robaidek and Kara Troxel led the way on offense for Bonduel, scoring 20 and 19 points, respectively. Madison Kurey chipped in seven points.

Robaidek knocked down four 3-pointers, while Troxel made two triples. Troxel also dished out five assists and had four steals. Kurey finished with four steals and five rebounds.

Bonduel 46

Crivitz 45

Bonduel held on late for a nonconference victory over Crivitz on Saturday at Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh.

Bonduel’s Allaina Robaidek hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with under two minutes to play. She hit five triples in the game to go along with seven rebounds and four assists.

Kara Troxel added 10 points, while Brenna Hertzfeldt chipped in eight points off the bench.

Wrestling: Witt-Birn wins CWC Tournament behind five top finishes

ALMOND — The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School wrestling team capped a strong regular season by winning the Central Wisconsin Conference Tournament on Saturday at Almond-Bancroft High School.

Five Witt-Birn wrestlers took first place in their respective weight classes to help the team earn 200.5 points. Witt-Birn coach Troy Ostrowski was also named the conference’s Coach of the Year after posting a perfect dual record in CWC matchups and winning the tournament title.

Bonduel 48

Bonduel fell short in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division road matchup with Shiocton on Friday.

Cole Letter scored 14 points to lead Bonduel on the offensive end. Reece Stoltenow added nine points, while Carson Robaidek had eight.

Half of Bonduel's 18 field goals were 3-pointers, but Shiocton outscored the Bears by 10 points in each half.

WRESTLING

Shawano 52

Xavier 24

Shawano captured its second straight Bay Conference title with a convincing win over Xavier High School on Thursday in Shawano.

Shawano earned wins at nine weight classes, with eight wins coming by pin.

Connor Majeski (120), Wyatt Brandt (126), Noah Jones (138), Colten Herm (152), Ben Carroll (160), Gage Timm (170), Andrew Popp (182) and Trace Yeager (195) earned the pins for Shawano.

Keith Tourtillott (220) earned Shawano’s other win, picking up a major decision.
