Bonduel cruised to a Packerland Conference win over Clintonville on Friday in Clintonville.

Carson Robaidek caught two touchdowns to lead Bonduel, while also intercepting two passes. The Bears had five takeaways in the contest.

Cole Anderson also caught a touchdown for Bonduel, while Max Marohl and Gavin Vance each added rushing touchdowns.

Brewers' season-long hitting woes lead to early playoff exit

The hitting struggles that hampered the Milwaukee Brewers throughout the pandemic-shortened regular season proved fatal in the playoffs.

With a roster decimated by injuries, the Brewers totaled two runs while getting swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a best-of-3 NL wild card series. They got eliminated while striking out 13 times and mustering just four hits in a 3-0 loss on Thursday night.

The Brewers ranked 26th among the 30 teams in batting average (.223) and 27th in runs per game (4.1). Milwaukee batters struck out 582 times for MLB’s second-highest total.

Shawano tops New London in duals

The Shawano boys and girls teams earned dual wins over New London on Thursday in New London. The boys posted a score of 19, with New London at 43, and the Shawano girls tallied a 21, with New London at 34.

Oconto Falls rallied past Waupaca in a North Eastern Conference match on Thursday in Oconto Falls.

The Panthers dropped the first set 25-23, but won the next three sets, 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.

Oconto Falls used a balanced attack to get the job done. Jayden Arndt, Amelia Rice, Emmie Magnin and Laikyn St. Louis led the way.

Bonduel fails to advance any girls golfers past regional

The Bonduel High School girls golf team, or any individuals on the team, did not advance past a regional on Thursday.

Bonduel placed seventh with a team score of 471 at the Division 2 Waupaca Regional at Foxfire Golf Club.

To advance as a team, a top-four finish was needed. To qualify for sectionals as an individual, a golfer must have placed in the top four amongst the golfers who didn't have their team qualify.

Thea Tauchen and Sarah Garside were Bonduel's top golfers on the day, posting 18-hole rounds of 113. Those rounds tied them for 17th as individuals.

Oconto Falls girls golf team qualifies for sectional

The Oconto Falls High School girls golf team qualified for sectionals after placing in the top four at the Division 2 Waupaca Regional on Thursday at Foxfire Golf Club.

The Panthers posted a team score of 432 to take third. Freedom (390) won the meet and Marinette (424) was second, while Fox Valley Lutheran (458) also qualified as a team after finishing fourth.

Leading the way for Oconto Falls was senior Kaylee Sadowski, who posted an 18-hole round of 97. That score tied her for the fifth-best on the course as an individual.

Brewers fall to Dodgers in playoff opener

The Los Angeles Dodgers' powerful lineup went mostly quiet against the Milwaukee Brewers. Still, baseball's best team in the regular season generated just enough offense and got plenty of help from the opposing pitcher.

Mookie Betts had two hits and an RBI and Corey Seager homered in the Dodgers' 4-2 victory in the opener of their NL playoff Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

Shawano's Johnson qualifies for golf sectional

Shawano Community High School's Taylor Johnson qualified for sectionals for the fourth time in her high school career Wednesday.

The senior posted an 18-hole round of 103 at the Division 1 Wausau East/Wausau West Regional at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.

Johnson's day got off to a tough start, as she posted a 10 on the first hole. She finished the front nine with a score of 54 before posting a 49 on the back nine.

Shawano volleyball senior day spoiled by West De Pere

The Shawano Community High School volleyball team honored five seniors before a Bay Conference match with West De Pere on Tuesday in Shawano.

The Hawks played in their longest and most competitive match of the year, but they eventually fell short in five sets. The visiting Phantoms won by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 9-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Coming into the night, the longest match the Hawks had played this fall was three sets, with Shawano either sweeping its opponent or getting swept.
