Packers, Panthers game date and time set

The NFL announced that the Green Bay Packers vs. Carolina Panthers game in week 15 at Lambeau Field will be played at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19.

The game will air nationally on the NFL Network and also on WLUK-TV in Green Bay and WITI-TV in Milwaukee. The game is also available on the Packers Radio Network that is made up of 50 stations in four states.

Wisconsin CB Wildgoose says he plans to enter NFL draft

Wisconsin cornerback Rachad Wildgoose is declaring for the NFL draft and isn’t expected to play in the Badgers’ remaining games this season.

Wildgoose announced his decision via Twitter on Friday. He injured his shoulder in the first half of a 17-7 loss at Northwestern last week and had his arm in a sling for the second half of the game.

In his tweet, Wildgoose said that “being a part of what I consider the greatest university in America has been the honor of my life.”

Ball security lacking in Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers are a team that takes pride in taking care of the ball, often finishing amongst the league leaders in least amount of turnovers for a season.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers owns the best touchdown to interception ratio in NFL history and has just two seasons of 10-plus interceptions in his long career. He threw a combined six interceptions between the 2018-19 seasons.

COVID-19 causes Gophers to cancel football game with Wisconsin

For the first time in 114 years, the Minnesota-Wisconsin game has been bumped off the schedule.

Minnesota called off its annual battle with Wisconsin for Paul Bunyan’s Axe — which was slated for Saturday afternoon — due to an uptick in COVID-19 cases within the program. The decision made Tuesday by Minnesota will also likely make the 18th-ranked Badgers ineligible for the Big Ten championship game, because of two earlier canceled games.

Ten scheduled games this week involving FBS teams have been postponed or canceled. The Minnesota-Wisconsin game won’t be made up.

Shawano picked up a season-opening nonconference win over Gillett on Tuesday in Shawano.

Rachel Reed posted 22 points to lead Shawano. Brianna Wright added 12 points, while Avery Dreier had 11.

The Hawks outscored the visitors by eight points in each half.

Lena 31

Suring eased to a Marinette & Oconto Conference victory over Lena on Tuesday in Suring. The Eagles led 30-10 at halftime.

Paige Krueger tallied 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals to lead Suring. Kate Mahoney added 11 points, while Kylee Stelzer had nine points and five steals. Christine Sleeter contributed seven points and five steals, and Kelsey Smith recorded 15 rebounds and five steals.
