SURING — Suring came up on the wrong end of a 30-28 playoff matchup against Gibraltar on Friday.

Logan Stuart had another monster game on the ground for second-seeded Suring. The senior carried the ball 34 times, totaling 223 rushing yards and all four of the team’s touchdowns.

All the other Eagles combined for just 49 yards of offense.

Third-seeded Gibraltar scored a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 16-0 lead.

Third-seeded Bonduel was upset by sixth-seeded Coleman in a Division 6 playoff game in Bonduel on Friday.

Coleman got on the scoreboard first, but Bonduel looked to seize the momentum when Dylan Burch blocked a punt to set the team up at the Coleman 27-yard line just before halftime. Instead, the Bears fumbled on the next play and the Cougars returned it for a touchdown to take a 13-0 lead into halftime.

Volleyball: Oconto Falls eliminated by Lux-Casco

LUXEMBURG — The Oconto Falls High School volleyball team had its season come to an end after being swept by Luxemburg-Casco in a competitive Division 2 regional semifinal on Thursday.

The top-seeded Spartans topped the eighth-seeded Panthers by scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-14.

“I think we just came into it not cocky, I guess,” said Oconto Falls senior Natalie Brauer on how the team stayed competitive in the season-ending loss. “We knew they’d be a hard team so we set our standards high. We gave everything like this could be our last game.”

SHAWANO — Every cross-country runner hopes to be putting up their best times of the season as the season winds down. Shawano’s Demetrius Kaquatosh is doing just that as his high school career winds down.

Kaquatosh won the Bay Conference Meet on Oct. 17, helping the boys team finish second.

The senior finished fourth in the small division at the Seymour Invitational on Oct. 10, leading the team to a fourth-place finish.

Mosinee 3

Fifth-seeded Shawano upset fourth-seeded Mosinee in a Division 3 regional semifinal in Mosinee on Thursday.

Michael Klement scored two goals and was credited with an assist to lead Shawano. Chris Etori and Owen Moesch each added a goal, while Lance Huebner had an assist.

JJ Pyatskowit made seven saves while defending the net for the Hawks.

Shawano will play at top-seeded Waupaca in a regional final on Saturday.

Girls Swim: Clintonville’s Foth earns top finish at sprints meet

SHAWANO — Clintonville’s Brianna Foth earned a first-place finish, while Wittenberg-Birnamwood and Shawano/Bonduel each placed in the top five as teams at the 19th Annual Hawks Sprint Invite on Tuesday.

Foth, a junior, came in first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.72 seconds.
