Shawano’s Eggert named first team all-conference in golf

North Eastern Conference Championship

Oconto Falls placed fourth out of nine teams with a 417 at Wander Springs Golf Course. Marinette captured the gold with a 363.

Scoring for the Panthers were Taylor Miller at 92, Olivia Wagner at 101, and Addy Kluth and Ava Salscheider each at 112.

Kylie Thompson knocked out a 114.

Bonduel runners break the tape at Eagle Invitational

Bonduel’s boys and Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s girls were the first-place teams at the Middle Village Cross Country Course in Keshena.

For Bonduel, Race Anvelink placed first followed by Griffin Uelmen in fourth, Oliver Chitwood in fifth, Gage Anderson in sixth and Joah Dworniczak in eighth (five members earning medals).

Garrett Anderson, Ben Reisner and Dylan Keller also ran on varsity.

Pulaski Invite

Oconto Falls lost to West DePere in three games the first match of the day before they won the next four to win the invite including a rematch against West DePere in the championship game.

“It was nice to see the girls continue to fight and play hard after they lost that first match.,” coach Rochell Otto said. “They gained momentum and improved their play throughout the day.”

In pool play, the Panthers lost to West De Pere 25-21, 17-25, 14-16.

Golfers play in middle of the pack

Notre Dame Triton Invitational

Shawano and Pulaski’s golf teams found themselves in the middle of the pack of a 23-team invite at Oneida Golf and Country Club.

The Hawks placed 11th with a 394, while the Red Raiders finished 14th with a 426. Kaukauna won the meet with a 328.

Shawano was led by Sophia Eggert at 84. She was joined by Grace Pensis at 100, Maci Heagle at 102 and Delanie Kunze at 103. Lily Glysch and Madelyn Moesch also competed.

Bonduel, Pulaski runners show speed, endurance

Bonduel Bear Invite

The Bonduel boys cross country team won first place at their home invite, while the Wittenberg-Birnamwood team won the girls event.

For the boys, Bonduel scored 37 points, followed by Menominee Nation in second with 49, Wittenberg-Birnamwood in sixth with 168 and Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in ninth with 212.

On the girls side, it was the Chargers winning with 34, followed by Bonduel in second place with 46 and Lena/St. Thomas in fourth with 97.

Panthers keep streak alive with 58-0 win

Newman Catholic 48, Tigerton/Marion 6

In a Saturday afternoon game, Tigerton/Marion lost its first game in the Central Wisconsin-8 Conference.

Tigerton/Marion is 2-1 in the conference and 3-2 overall.

Tigerton/Marion will take on Port Edwards (3-0 in conference) at Tigerton at 7 p.m. Sept. 27.

Oconto Falls 58, Clintonville 0

The Panthers kept their perfect season going with a 58-0 Northwoods Conference win over Clintonville.

Shawano beats Menasha in tennis

Shawano 4, Menasha 3

The Shawano girls tennis team made it two in a row with their second conference win over Menasha.

Ireland Setterman and Rachael Carroll were winners at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Setterman won 6-2, 6-3, and Carroll won 6-0, 6-3.

Carroll has extended her overall record to 18-2 on the season with one week to go in the regular season.

Claire Weiland and Olivia Dobratz had a revenge match at No. 1 doubles and came out on top to win their second match in a row 6-3, 6-4.

Bowler gets past Tigerton

Bowler 3, Tigerton 0

Bowler hosted CWC North rival Tigerton in volleyball and won in three straight sets. Scores were 26-24, 25-21, 25-20.

“The two teams were very closely matched, but we couldn’t finish what we started,” Tigerton coach Holly Meverden said. “The second round of conference games are starting next week, and we will have to work very hard to beat the teams we lost to in the first round.”

Shawano soccer team shuts out Seymour

Shawano 3, Seymour 0

It was a big time Bay Conference battle when Seymour visited Shawano.

The teams were scoreless through the first 60 minutes when Shawano senior Erik Ainsworth stepped up to make a play that was all heart and broke the 0-0 clash. Ainsworth delivered an assist to Ruben De Gaspari, who finished it for the first goal of the contest.

About 10 minutes later, Shawano delivered with two more goals within moments of each other.

Shawano, Pulaski tennis teams win

Sept. 17

Shawano 6, Marinette 1

Tennis players from Shawano captured all three doubles matches and three of the four singles rounds as the Hawks topped Marinette 6-1 at home.

Ireland Letterman won at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0, while No. 2 Rachael Carroll won with identical 6-0 shutouts. At No. 3, Laney Rich won 6-1, 6-1.
