Betty Irene Jones, 90, of Gillett, passed away peacefully into Jesus’ arms on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at St. Clare Memorial Hospital with family by her side. Betty was born Nov. 20, 1935, to the late Fred and Ethel Suchalla in Marinette.
She married Orby Jones on May 30, 1953, in Pound. The couple spent almost 70 wonderful years together. During their time together, the couple owned several businesses throughout northeastern Wisconsin, including a brief stint in Iowa. Finally, they settled together to raise their family in Gillett. Starting in 1968, they served the community as the nursing home administrators for 30 years, until retiring together in 1998.
Beyond their business accomplishments, the couple enjoyed a full life together traveling to visit friends and family across the country. Throughout their life, they also enjoyed traveling abroad together including places like Israel, Thailand, Canada and Mexico. Betty would always have a special place in her heart for her mission trips to Guatemala and always spoke fondly of her many lifelong friends made throughout her life serving Jesus in the church.
Betty is survived by her four children, Judy (James) Krueger, David (Susannah) Jones, Jillane (Dennis) Gorman and Jeffrey (Brenda) Jones; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Mocco; one brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Bonnie Suchalla; one brother-in-law, Bernie Uhl; one sister-in-law, Jackie Jones. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors and friends that knew and loved her throughout her wonderful life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orby; parents; siblings, Edith (Donald) Jones and Bertha Uhl; brother-in-law, Rodger Mocco; daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Jones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church, N6955 County Road BB, Cecil, WI 54111, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. Betty will be interred at Brookside Cemetery in spring.
