Abrams theater to present ‘Guys and Dolls’
Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. invites the community to its performance of the Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls.” Tickets are on sale now for this entertaining love story, to be presented Dec. 2-5 and Dec. 9-12 at the Nancy Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams.
Club Notes: Lena Lions
The Lena Lions Club honored Logan Shallow, son of Rich and Jenni Shallow, as student of the month for October. The award was presented by Lion Ben Pyteleski, district administrator and elementary principal of the Lena Public Schools. Logan is a senior at Lena High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society and Lena High Band.
Club Notes: Delta Kappa Gamma
Delta Kappa Gamma, Nu Chapter, celebrated its 75th anniversary during the Nov. 6 meeting held at Crystal Falls in New London. Wisconsin State Organization President Stephanie Malaney, along with 20 chapter members, was present. Second Vice President Lynn Aprill gave a Slidesgo presentation about chapter history. Fourteen Shawano County women were initiated into Delta Kappa Gamma in Milwaukee on Nov. 9, 1946.
Bald eagle takes flight on barn quilt
Shawano County’s 376th barn quilt, featuring a bald eagle in flight, is now on display on a building owned by Otto Schultz at E10646 County Road C, Clintonville. Schultz purchased 38 acres five years ago and has thought about getting a barn quilt ever since. “I’ve seen the barn quilts around Shawano County, and my dad has one on his barn, so I thought it would be nice to get one too,” Schultz said.
$1M to pay for Shawano School District’s iPads
The Shawano School District announced it has been awarded over $1 million to be used to pay for the cost of the iPads distributed this September from the Emergency Connectivity Fund, part of the Federal Communication Commission’s funding in support of schools providing equipment and broadband services for students and families. Fernandez concert to benefit Waking Women institute
Wade Fernandez will be performing a concert at 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at First Congregational Church of Christ, 724 E. South River St., Appleton. At the concert, a freewill offering will be received to benefit the Waking Women Healing Institute, started by Kristen Welch, of Gresham, to address and prevent Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and acts of sexual violence against Indigenous women, girls and two-spirits.
