Bonduel boys win home track and field invitational

The Bonduel High School boys track and field team won the team’s home invitational after accumulating 145 points on May 18 in Bonduel.

Bonduel outlasted Manawa (134) for the top spot. Menominee Indian (70) claimed third, while Gresham/Bowler (60) was fourth. Wittenberg-Birnamwood (43) and Wolf River Lutheran (20) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

On the girls side of things, Manawa took first with 153 points. Bonduel (108) took second, while Menominee Indian (104) was third. Witt-Birn (79) and Gresham/Bowler (43) claimed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Bonduel earns share of CWC-East softball title

The Bonduel High School softball team won three games between May 15-16 to earn a share of the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division title.

The Bears played twice on May 15, topping Manawa 8-5 and rallying past Wittenberg-Birnamwood 5-4 in Bonduel. The Bears then rolled to a 16-4 win over Shiocton on May 16 in Shiocton.

Bonduel had to wait until May 18 to learn if they would have to share the conference title or not. Amherst topped Shiocton to tie Bonduel with an 11-3 CWC-East mark.

Athlete Profile: Karter Schroeder

Bonduel’s Karter Schroeder is eyeing a second-straight state track and field trip as his senior season winds down.

Schroeder made it to state in the high jump as a junior and placed 13th after clearing 5 feet, 10 inches.

On May 13 at the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large Division Meet, he placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 5-8. He was on two relay teams that placed in the top five and claimed 13th in the 400-meter dash.

Schroeder plans to continue his track and field career at UW-Stevens Point.

Bonduel repeats as CWC golf champions

The Bonduel High School boys golf team won the fourth and final Central Wisconsin Conference meet on May 16 at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau to comfortably win the conference crown.

Bonduel posted a team score of 348 at Greenwood Hills to finish 4-0 at CWC meets this spring.

Rogowski dominates at CWC-Large Meet

The Bonduel, Menominee Indian and Wittenberg-Birnamwood track and field teams all participated in the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large Division Meet on May 12 in Rosholt, with each team having some top finishers.

Reese Rogowski showed why she's one of the top track and field athletes in the state and helped the girls team take fifth at the conference meet after scoring 73 points. The boys team placed 10th with 11 points.

Bogacz to wrestle for UW-La Crosse

Bonduel’s Tyson Bogacz took the next step in his wrestling career when family and friends recognized him at a celebratory signing event May 10 inside Bonduel’s new gymnasium.

Bogacz will next wrestle for UW-La Crosse after a standout career at Bonduel.

“It’s really exciting that I finally made it to this stage in my life, and that coach (Dave) Malecek has blessed me with an opportunity to continue doing what I love,” said Bogacz.

Bonduel boys golf team wins another CWC meet behind Luepke

The Bonduel High School boys golf team continued its big spring season with a first-place finish at a May 9 Central Wisconsin Conference meet at Maple Hills Golf Course in Wittenberg.

Bonduel posted a team score of 350. Wittenberg-Birnamwood grabbed second with a 356. Marion placed ninth with a mark of 466, while Gresham/Menominee Indian took 12th with a score of 584.

Reed Luepke led Bonduel on the course, posting an 18-hole round of 81 to finish as the meet medalist.

Shawano girls win home track and field invitational

The Shawano Community High School girls track and field team dominated the competition and took first at the Ryan Jozwiak Memorial Invitational on May 9 in Shawano.

The Shawano girls accumulated 196 points to finish first. Xavier was a distant second with 92 points. Bonduel took third with 81 points, while Menominee Indian tallied 64 points to take sixth.

Athlete Profile: Nakiyah Henning

The Bonduel High School softball team has hopes of winning the Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division title for a second consecutive year. Senior Nakiyah Henning hopes to help lead the Bears to that goal and many more.

After making the CWC-East second team last season, Henning is off to a strong start to this season.

Henning homered and drove in five runs in the team’s win over Menominee Indian on April 27. She posted three hits and earned the win in the circle in a victory over Iola-Scandinavia on April 24.

Bears' baseball team can’t overcome slow start in home loss

The Bonduel High School baseball team fell behind early and had its seventh-inning rally fall short in a 3-2 Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division loss to Manawa on April 28 in Bonduel.

Bonduel had a golden opportunity to erase the thoughts of its slow start to the game in the bottom of the seventh inning after loading the bases with no outs. Easton Reinke was hit by a pitch before Brodie Hartmann reached on an error and Charlie Tauchen walked.
