Ice Bears leave Glaciers at a standstill

Elliana Memken scored Bay Area’s first two goals and assisted on a third as the Ice Bears shut out the Brookfield Glaciers 5-0.

Memken scored at 4:59 in the opening period with help from Lily Lyons. She scored again at 7:57, with assists from Addison Dahl and Aisling Buchan.

Witt-Birn wrestlers send parents home happy

An up-and-down season for the Wittenberg-Birnamwood wrestling team continued Jan. 20 with a pair of Central Wisconsin Conference dual meet wins over Pittsville and Rosholt.

The Panthers and Hornets headed to Wittenberg for the Chargers’ annual Parents’ Night.

These girls just want to have fun

Wrestling has become a popular sport for hundreds of high school girls across Wisconsin.

That’s especially apparent this season at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, as the team’s roster of almost 30 wrestlers includes 12 girls. Those 12 girls include junior Brooke Huffman, a two-time defending state champion who headed into the Chargers’ Central Wisconsin Conference meet with Pittsville and Rosholt Jan. 20 with a 108-0 record.

Anheuser, Brady lead Tigerton boys in win over Rosholt

Tuesday, Jan. 20

Tigerton 81, Rosholt 50

Sam Anheuser and James Brady each scored 22 points to lead Tigerton to an 81-50 win over Rosholt.

Cameron Carlson scored nine points.

The Tigers held a comfortable 42-18 lead at the half and continued to outscored Rosholt 39-32 after the break.

Reevis leads Eagles in all stats in win over Amherst

Menominee Nation 63, Amherst 48

Urijah Reevis led the Eagles in points, rebounds, blocks, steals and assists in the Menominee Nation’s 63-48 CWC-East win over Amherst.

Reevis scored 21 points, pulled down eight rebounds, and had four blocks, five steals and seven assists.

Keira Nacotee scored 14 points, and Cecilia Grignon added nine.

Novy’s goal secures 1-0 win for Antigo

Tuesday, Jan. 20

Antigo 1, Lakeland Union 0

Ethan Novy’s goal at 1:43 in the third period was the only goal for Antigo in its Great Northern Conference matchup against Lakeland Union. It was all the Red Robins needed for the 1-0 win.

Richie Veriha assisted Novy on the score.

Antigo goalie Austin Martinson collected 38 saves, while Lakeland’s Cam Bernard had 15.
