Ella Thomson and Alisa Finger scored 24 and 10 points, respectively, for the Wildcats on Jan. 29 in a 51-21 M&O Conference win over Gillett on their home court.

Mustang girls beat Wildcats

The Mustangs improved to 2-1 in the CWC-North and 9-6o overall with a 40-35 win over Gresham in girls basketball action.

The Wildcats are 0-3 in the conference and 4-9 overall.

Other scores: Denmark 45, Oconto Falls 30; Green Bay Preble 59, Pulaski 52.

Tigerton boys make it 16 wins in a row

Tigerton 77, Tri-County 41

Tigerton’s boys kept up with their winning ways, defeating Tri-County 77-41 in a nonconference game.

The Tigers are 16-0 overall.

James Brady led the team with 25 points and 10 rebounds. He also added two blocks, three steals and four assists.

Shawano girl wrestlers lose 42-11 to Menasha

Menasha 42, Shawano 11

Shawano’s girls battled hard but were outgunned 42-11 against Menasha. She won by technical fall in 2:57 over Cecilia Street at 120.

Jenna Moede won the only match of the night and did so in convincing fashion.

Red Robin skaters beat Hawks in overtime

Antigo 3, Shawano 2 (OT)

Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School sophomore Ethan Novy scored the winning goal in overtime for the Antigo Red Robins in a 3-2 win over Shawano/Bonduel.

Neither team scored in the first period, with the Hawks taking a 1-0 lead at 14:52 in the second period on a Gavin Hundt goal with assists from Cameron Schroeder and Wyatt Schroeder.

Wins adding up for state-ranked Tigerton boys

One game at a time.

It’s one of the oldest sports cliches in the book, but it’s the message that Tigerton boys basketball coach Dan Hoffa has for his team.

The Tigers came into their Central Wisconsin Conference crossover game with Wild Rose on Jan. 27 with a 14-0 overall record, a 5-0 mark in CWC-North games and a No. 8 ranking in Division 5 in the latest state rankings.

Lena boys top Gresham in nonconference action

Lena 48, Gresham 41

Dash Comins and P.J. Finger each scored 13 points to lead Lena past Gresham 48-41 in boys basketball action.

Lucas Monigat scored seven points for Lena.

Lena carried a 23-21 lead into halftime and pulled away with a 25-20 second half, at one point leading by as much as 10 points.
