Stars shock Ice Bears with 2-1 win

The Ice Bears played an aggressive game with 51 shots on goal, but they only managed to connect on one of them in a 2-1 loss to the Eau Claire Area Stars.

It was only the second loss of the year for Bay Area.

Bears, Chargers boys teams win again

Coleman’s 19-18 lead at halftime and slowly grew in the second half until it reached 30 points in a 63-33 win over Lena.

Clay Peters led the Wildcats with 10 points, with Cooper Demmith adding five and P.J. Finger scoring three.

Girls place 7th at Hawks home wrestling invite

Shawano’s girls wrestling team place seventh with 66.5 points at their home invite.

Zennah Bosetski wrestled at 100 pounds and went 4-1, taking third place overall.

Her last match was a back-and-forth affair and was tied late in the third period with 30 seconds left. Bosetski got an escape and then hand fought the rest of the time to win 4-3.

Freshmen lead the way for Wildcats

Who says a pair of freshmen can come up big for a girls basketball team?

The Lena Wildcats, that’s who.

Ella Thomson and Alisa Finger scored 24 and 10 points, respectively, for the Wildcats on Jan. 29 in a 51-21 M&O Conference win over Gillett on their home court.

Mustang girls beat Wildcats

Marion/Tigerton 40, Gresham 35

The Mustangs improved to 2-1 in the CWC-North and 9-6o overall with a 40-35 win over Gresham in girls basketball action.

The Wildcats are 0-3 in the conference and 4-9 overall.

Other scores: Denmark 45, Oconto Falls 30; Green Bay Preble 59, Pulaski 52.

Tigerton boys make it 16 wins in a row

Tigerton 77, Tri-County 41

Tigerton’s boys kept up with their winning ways, defeating Tri-County 77-41 in a nonconference game.

The Tigers are 16-0 overall.

James Brady led the team with 25 points and 10 rebounds. He also added two blocks, three steals and four assists.

Shawano girl wrestlers lose 42-11 to Menasha

Menasha 42, Shawano 11

Shawano’s girls battled hard but were outgunned 42-11 against Menasha. She won by technical fall in 2:57 over Cecilia Street at 120.

Jenna Moede won the only match of the night and did so in convincing fashion.
