Shawano advanced to the WIAA Division 2 sectional final with a 50-47 semifinal win over Rhinelander in Antigo.

The game came down to the final seconds, but the No. 1 seed Hawks won out over the No. 3 Hodags.

Bay Area 5, Cap City 1

The Bay Area Ice Bears advanced to the state girls hockey championship game with a 5-1 win over the Cap City Cougars.

The girls will try to earn back-to-back titles when they face the St. Croix Valley Fusion at 3 p.m. March 7.

Following an undefeated regular season and a third straight Central Wisconsin Conference-North championship, the Tigerton boys basketball team turned its attention to the WIAA state tournament.

If an 82-34 opening-round win over Goodman/Pembine is any indication, the Tigers are well on their way to a deep run in the playoffs.

Bowler 66, White Lake 52

Bowler’s boys basketball team beat White Lake 66-52 to advance to the WIAA regional semifinals in Division 5.

Bowler, seeded seventh, will travel to Wabeno/Laona, the second seed, on March 6.

Menominee Nation 59, Sturgeon Bay 57

Menominee Nation won its Division 3 regional quarterfinal game 59-57 over Sturgeon Bay.
