Oconto Falls teams dominate at Suring cross country race

The Oconto Falls cross country teams dominated the Red Maple Country Club course at the Suring Eagles Invite on Oct. 7.

The girls won with 24 points, followed by Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy with 47, Oconto with 60 and Coleman with 96.

The Panthers grabbed six of the top 10 finishes, including Emma Meissner’s first place in 20:59.4 and Lily Meissner’s second place in 21:01.0.

Alexandria Braund placed sixth in 22:22.6, followed by Mackenzie Lotto in seventh in 22:23.0, Sydney Braund in eighth in 22:27.4 and Ava Holtz in 10th in 22:36.2.

Katie Moody was 22nd, Lily Caelwaerts was 27th, Evelyn Savage placed 29th, and Faith Thurman was 37th.

Leading Lena/STAA was Aspynn Anderson in fourth in 21:55.2, Alisa Finger in fifth in 21:57.2 and Adrena Rabas in ninth in 23:30.0.

Also competing were Alexis Maloney in 17th and Carla Caballero Morante in 18th.

Suring was led by Ginger Gerndt in 13th in 23:28.9, followed by Allyson Seibert in 14th and Natalie Seibert in 15th.

The Panthers boys team led with 15 points, followed by Suring with 51 and Pembine/Goodman with 69.

Like the girls, the Oconto Falls boys took six of the top 10 spots.

They were Isaiah Holtz, second in 19:32.0; Mason Lotto, fourth in 19:39.1; Ethan Zielinski, fifth in 19:44.1; Landon Timm, sixth in 20:02.1; Sage Mendolla, seventh in 20:13.6; and Braxton Rajkovich, ninth in 20:19.0.

Rounding out the team were Cason Weenig in 18th, Derek Johnson in 20th, Lucas Vanhulle in 21st, Brett Herms in 22nd, Carson Laluzerne in 24th, Max Pileski in 31st, and Damien Sauerhabe in 32nd.

Erik Kosch led Lena/STAA by placing third in 19:34.6.

He was joined by Dash Comins in 16th and Cooper Malloy in 28th.

Suring was led by Riley Thomson, who placed 12th in 20:47.4. He was followed by Charles Richard in 13th and Blake DeGrave in 14th.

Also running were Garrett School in 19th, Liam Matelski in 25th and Skylar Bristol in 34th.

Mark Buchholz, of Wolf River Lutheran in Shawano, finished 39th.

Monday, Oct. 6

Marion Invite

The Menominee Nation boys placed third among four teams at Marion.

Sophomore Bryant Waupoose III finished second with a time of 16:53.7.

He was joined by Michael Peters III, who placed 14th, Cashius Reevis in 19th, Kai Wayka in 22nd, Christopher Waubanascum in 38th and Chase Waupoose in 43rd.

Payton Prickette led Marion/Tigerton with a 25th-place finish, followed right behind by Tristan Herro in 26th.

Brayden Zietlow was 33rd.

Derec Guthries, of Gresham/Bowler, finished in 36th place, followed by Blaze Ejnik in 37th.

Breckin Gleason finished in 46th, and Adam Liethen was 47th.

Urijah Reevis led the Menominee Nation girls with a seventh-place finish in 22:40.6.

Teammates Keira Nacotee finished 16th, Kaylee Nacotee was 19th, and Mimi Corn was 22nd.

Brooklyn Ahlers led Marion/Tigerton by finishing eighth in 22:44.0.

She was joined by Kennedy Zuniga in 13th.
