• Destiny R. Rockman, 37, Neopit, pleaded no contest Feb. 24 to three counts of possession of methamphetamine, six counts of felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer, battery and two counts of disorderly conduct. Judge William Kussel Jr. levied fines and court costs and sentenced her to 750 days in county jail.

• Ryker L. Shampo, 27, an Oconto man serving a sentence at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, has his probation revoked Jan. 7 from a 2024 conviction for felony bail jumping. Judge Michael Judge sentenced him to 44 days in county jail, time deemed served.

Importance of local government stressed to students

Local. Local. Local.

That was the theme heard by area high school students who participated in the annual Youth Government Day program at the Shawano County Courthouse on Feb. 25.

Staci Rubenzer, director of the Shawano County Library, told more than 100 students of a former professor who instilled in her the importance of local government.

Motion to sanction attorneys for murder suspect withdrawn

The Shawano-Menominee County District Attorney’s office sought to sanction the two attorneys representing Michael Ingold in a first-degree homicide case for withholding documents, but officials quickly withdrew the motion once it was discovered the document in question was already in the DA’s possession.
