Shawano track and field teams 3rd at invite

Pulaski boys, girls come in 4th

The Shawano Community High School boys and girls track and field teams each placed third, while both Pulaski teams were fourth at the Pulaski Red Raider Invite on April 28 in Pulaski.

The Shawano boys accumulated 119⅓ points, behind Bay Port’s 187⅓ and De Pere’s 150. Pulaski scored 71 points.

The Shawano girls tallied 112 points, only behind Bay Port’s 185 and De Pere’s 167. Pulaski recorded 99½ points for its finish.

Shawano

Elliott Lowney and Isabel Roloff led the Shawano boys and girls teams, respectively.

Lowney was the invite’s top finisher in the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 22.94 seconds and also won the long jump with a top leap of 20 feet, 5½ inches. He also placed second in the 100 with a time of 11.48 seconds.

Roloff claimed the top time in the 100 on the girls side with a time of 13.09 seconds. She was also the top finisher in the pole vault after clearing 10 feet.

Makenna Bubolz won the girls 200 dash in 28.7 seconds and Grace Beyer won the 800 in 2:31.95 for the other Shawano individual finishes on the night.

Shawano’s 4x800 relay team of Beyer, Grace Chelberg, Lily Guenther and Adalyn Barkley kicked off the running portion of the invite with a first-place finish in 10:30.57, over 20 seconds faster than any other relay team.

Guenther went on to place second in the 3,200 (12:14.28). Maddie Krueger placed second in the girls shot put with a throw of 29-10½.

The Shawano girls 4x400 relay team of Beyer, Chelberg, Barkley and Maria Bodeewes teamed up for third place in 4:33.21. Chelberg placed third individually in the 1,600 (5:46.8).

Back on the boys side, it was a pair of Chelbergs that earned second-place finishes.

Andon Chelberg finished second in the 800 (2:15), and Will Chelberg claimed second in the 3,200 (10:21.04).

The Chelberg domination didn’t stop there.

Will Chelberg placed third in the 1,600 (4:45.4), while Connor Chelberg was third in the 400 dash (55.73).

The Shawano boys 4x800 relay team of Connor Chelberg, Andon Chelberg, Jaymin Boivin and Alec White teamed up for third in 9:16.14.

Ethan Onesti grabbed third in the 3,200 (10:25.34).

Pulaski

The Pulaski boys and girls team each had one individual first-place finish on the night.

Emily Bruss won the girls long jump after a top leap of 16-1¼. The second-place finisher had a mark of 15-6.

T.J. Shaw placed first in the boys 3,200 with a time of 10:17.2.

Jack Marsh placed second in the boys discus, with teammate Aaron Hawpetoss right behind him. Marsh had a throw of 146-3, with Hawpetoss at 145-11.

Lindsey Jossie turned in an individual second-place finish for the Red Raiders in the girls 100 hurdles after a time of 17.54 seconds in the finals. She placed third in the triple jump after a top leap of 32-2½.

Pulaski saw three relay teams finish second or third on the night.

The Pulaski girls 4x200 relay team of Rachael Allen, Anna Friedman, Grace Goodness and Hallie Morz claimed second in 1:53.61. Allen, Morz, Lindsey Jossie and Katelyn Jossie teamed up for third in the 4x100 relay (54.43).

The Pulaski boys quartet of Eian Ziemer, Rylan Rodal, Mason Wells and Brock Steinbrecher nearly took first, but settled for second in 1:33.52. Bay Port won the race in 1:33.13.

Also placing third for the Pulaski girls was Lily Urben in the 300 hurdles (50.36), Olivia Stedl in the 800 (2:36.36), Cora Zueleger in the discus (83-4½) and Morz in the 200 (28.84).

Angela Opolka tied for third in the 3,200 in 12:55.65.
