Oconto Falls, Pulaski tie for 3rd at golf invitational

May 12 proved to be another busy day for area high school boys golf teams.

The Oconto Falls and Pulaski boys golf teams each tied for third place at the Stu Anderson Invitational at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls.

Lena and Gillett competed at a Marinette and Oconto Conference meet at Hunter’s Glen Golf Club in Crivitz. Lena placed first, while Gillett came in fifth.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Bonduel, Marion and Gresham/Menominee Indian all competed in the Marion Invite at Glen Cairn Golf Course in Ogdensburg. Witt-Birn took second, Bonduel was eighth, Marion came in ninth and Gresham/Menominee Indian finished 11th.

Stu Anderson Invitational

The Panthers and Red Raiders posted team scores of 349 to take third. Seymour won the invitational with a mark of 340, while Notre Dame was second with a 341.

Oconto Falls was led on the course by sophomore Kadyn Riel, who tied for the second-best individual score with an 18-hole total of 79.

Caden Leonhardt was second on the team with a round of 87. That mark tied for 12th individually.

Oconto Falls other three varsity golfers all finished within a shot of each other.

Trevor Metzler carded a round of 91, while Cy Vizelka and Carson McDermid each shot 92s.

Pulaski, which sent a varsity reserve roster to Oconto Falls, was led by Derek Shaw and Robert Kinner. Shaw tallied a round of 84 to tie for seventh individually, while Kinner was at an 85 to come in ninth.

Zach Wescott was third on the team after firing a round of 88. Jaqx Kanuhsa tallied a 92, while Charles Van Sickle tallied a 102.

M&O meet

Lena recorded a team score of 169 to earn first place. Gillett posted a mark of 223 for its fifth-place finish.

Braden McVane led Lena on the course with a nine-hole round of 35.

Evan VanderZanden tallied a round of 42 for the Wildcats. Mason Spice and Drake Dionne each fired 46, while Mason Belongia was at a 47.

Gillett’s top four golfers finished within two shots of each other.

Elsa Limberg and Laney DeBauch each posted rounds of 55. Katelyn Smith tallied a 56, while Aydin Franti posted a 57.

Tyler Frank was Gillett’s other golfer, tallying a 64.

Marion Invite

Witt-Birn posted a team score of 373 to come in second. Amherst was first with a 361.

Bonduel tallied a round of 432, while Marion was at a 444 and Gresham/Menominee Indian a 495.

George Seegmiller led Witt-Birn in Ogdensburg with an 18-hole round of 90.

Dylan Resch tallied a 93, while Owen Schultz fired a 94. August Barke (96) and Joey Seegmiller (98) filled out the team.

Ben Letter led Bonduel on the day with a round of 95.

Sam Wolf (101), Griffin Uelmen (111), Ryan Westrich (125) and Louis Hrabik (133) also golfed for the Bears.

Marion was paced by Sam Gueths round of 100.

Owen Spiegel (112), Edward Schoen (113), Gracie Grogan (119) and Cameron Buss (121) helped round out the team.

Gresham/Menominee Indian was led by Fynn Bennett’s 107.

Kaidyen Zaitz (124), Trentyn Harrison (130), Jefferson Hoffman (134) and Caprice Gomeyosh (139) filled out the team.
