New library director hired for Shawano County

Nancy Bell is the new director of the Shawano County Library. Bell began her duties Sept. 25.

She replaces Kristie Hauer, who resigned Aug. 1 for a new job opportunity, according to Shawano County Administrative Coordinator Jim Davel. She will take charge of the libraries in Shawano, Bonduel, Tigerton, Wittenberg, Birnamwood and Mattoon.

Most recently, Bell served as the readers’ advisory librarian at the Oshkosh Public Library at the Oshkosh Public Library, a position she held for two years and nine months.

Prior to that, she worked five years at the Milwaukee Public Library and 16 months with the Lake Villa (Illinois) District Library.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology/biological sciences in 2014 from Marquette University and her master of library and information services in 2020 from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
