The Milwaukee Brewers bats were silent again in a loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday in Chicago.

Milwaukee didn't register a hit until the seventh inning and finished with just four hits. The Brewers struck out 11 times.

Justin Smoak drove in both of Milwaukee's runs, homering in the seventh and doubling in Avisail Garcia in the ninth.

Starter Brett Anderson took the loss after allowing two runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. Corbin Burnes worked the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing the final two runs.

The Milwaukee Brewers couldn’t hold down the bats of the Minnesota Twins in a Wednesday matchup at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee used six pitchers to get through the game, including position player Jedd Gyorko in the ninth inning. Brewers pitchers surrendered 15 hits and six walks, with all 12 runs being earned.

Eric Lauer took the loss after allowing seven runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings. Justin Grimm allowed four runs before Eric Yardley gave up the 12th run. Corey Knebel, Brent Suter and Gyorko all tossed scoreless innings.

Milwaukee finished with seven hits. Smoak and Luis Urias each had two hits, and Urias drove in both runs.

Twins 4

The Milwaukee Brewers clubbed four home runs during a comeback win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Milwaukee trailed 4-1 after three innings.

Manny Pina hit two homers and drove in three runs for the Brewers. Garcia, who led the offense with three hits, belted a leadoff home run. Gyorko broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run shot in the eighth inning.

Josh Hader struck out three batters in the ninth to pick up his third save and seal up Milwaukee’s win. Devin Williams tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the win.

Starter Josh Lindblom surrendered three homers and four runs across four innings before Alex Claudio, Yardley and David Phelps tossed scoreless innings.

A grand slam allowed in the third inning was the lone blemish by Brewers pitchers, but the team wasn’t able to overcome the deficit with its bats in a setback to the Twins on Monday at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Adrian Houser took the loss, surrendering the four runs. He struck out four batters and allowed six total hits across five innings. Freddy Peralta pitched the final four innings, striking out eight while allowing just two baserunners.

Milwaukee had eight hits, but left seven runners on base and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Keston Hiura homered for a second straight game and led the Brewers with two hits. Orlando Arcia drove in the other run, plating Urias with a double off the left field wall. Urias singled in his first plate appearance with the team after being traded for in the offseason.

Reds 3

The Brewers avoided a three-game sweep by cruising past the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Milwaukee scored six times in the sixth to surge ahead. The Brewers recorded 10 hits and drew seven walks in the contest.

Christian Yelich led the offense by driving in three runs on a pair of hits, including a booming home run off a sign on the scoreboard in center field. Hiura homered among his three hits and had two RBIs, while Smoak had three hits and two RBIs.

Suter earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings in relief of Brandon Woodruff, who allowed two runs over four innings. Williams and Knebel each tossed scoreless frames before Claudio allowed a run in the ninth.

Reds 4

The Brewers suffered a second straight loss to the Reds on Saturday at Miller Park in Milwaukee.

Brock Holt drove in Milwaukee’s only run on a sacrifice flyout in the eighth inning. The Brewers finished with just four hits while striking out 11 times.

Anderson took the loss after surrendering three first-inning runs. He worked 3⅔ innings in total.

Burnes pitched the final 5⅓ innings, striking out eight batters while allowing a run in the seventh.

Reds 8

Brewers 3

The Brewers dropped the first matchup of a three-game series with the Reds on Friday at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Reds used a six-run second inning to cruise to the win.

Lauer was tagged with the loss after allowing six earned runs across three innings. Knebel surrendered the other two runs in the sixth.

Logan Morrison hit a solo home run in the fourth for Milwaukee’s first run before Yelich hit a two-run homer in the eighth.

Cincinnati starter Trevor Bauer struck out 12 batters in six innings of work. Milwaukee struck out 16 times in the contest and finished with just five hits.
