Leonard A. Schroeder

Leonard Arthur Schroeder, 83, of Underhill, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, with his great nephews, Kevin and Keith, by his side. Leonard was born and raised on the family farm, Pleasant View Farm, on Oct. 1, 1938, to the late Henry and Olga (Marcheske) Schroeder. He was baptized on Oct. 12, 1938, and confirmed on June 1, 1952, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Leonard graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1957 and farmed his whole life until he retired in August 2008. He lived out the rest of his days on the homestead he loved so much. Leonard loved spending his evenings watching the deer out in the east field and writing down how many deer he saw. He was a collector of jackknives and pocket watches. He also loved a good rummage sale! Leonard had a knack for remembering important family dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. He loved a good Danish and said, “You are never too old to eat birthday cake.” Leonard had a kind, gentle soul with a quick wit about him. He always had a good story or joke to tell when you stopped in for a visit. Most recently he said, “Hey, would you help me with my tongue, and not the one in my mouth, but the one on my shoe.” Leonard enjoyed life to the fullest and loved going for rides around the farm to check on crops or count deer. He was always up for a ride in Oconto and Shawano counties.

Leonard is survived by his brother, Raymond Schroeder of Bonduel; nephew, Frank (Cheryl) Schroeder of Cecil; great-nephews, Keith Schroeder and Kurt Schroeder (friend Amanda); great-nephew and godson, Kevin (Kim) Schroeder; nephew and godson, Dale (Marin) Rademann; niece and goddaughter, Brenda Treankler; great-great-nieces and nephews, Kalleigh, Karter, Kennedy, Karl, Kody, and Kayla. He is further survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Wilfred (Elenora) Schroeder, Karl (Ruth) Schroeder, Ruth (Lester) Leorhke, Doris (Donald) Herms, Richard Schroeder, and Baby Sister Schroeder; sister-in-law, Doris Schroeder; nephews, Karl Schroeder Jr., David Schroeder, Lowell Schroeder, and Roger Rademann; nieces, Lori Schroeder and Carol Rademann; special friend, Mary Ann Schelk.
