Hortonville wins Dairyland League regular season title

Pulaski loses 3 games during busy week

The Dairyland League had several makeup games that were played last week, along with the final slate of regular season games. It led to a ton of movement in the standings, with Hortonville emerging as the regular season champions.

Hortonville 13, Cecil 0

The Hortonville Stars eased to a seven-inning win over the Cecil Mudhens on Sunday in Cecil. The victory secured Hortonville the league’s top record at 7-2.

Hortonville had 12 hits and drew 11 walks in the win. The Stars scored runs in five of the seven innings.

Cecil (0-9) had just three hits in the loss.

Hortonville 8, Pulaski 1

Hortonville took down the Pulaski Reds on Aug. 6 in Hortonville to take control of its own destiny.

Colan Treml earned the win after striking out 11 batters across seven innings. Connor Roesler tripled and drove in two runs for the Stars, while Kole Ellenbecker also tripled and drove in a run. Nick Dugandzic had two hits.

Shawano 25, Pulaski 5

The Shawano Lobos dominated the Reds in an Aug. 5 matchup in Pulaski.

It was Pulaski’s first league loss of the season.

Waupaca 8, Pulaski 3

The Waupaca Lakemen handed Pulaski its third loss of the week in a Sunday matchup in Waupaca.

Cam Seidl had two hits to lead Waupaca (6-3) on offense. Seidl also earned the win after striking out 15 batters across seven innings. Luke Behm worked the final two innings.

Pulaski finished the regular season with a 6-3 mark.

Shawano 4, Freedom 1

Shawano earned its second win of the week after taking down the Freedom Mets on Friday in Shawano.

Jacob Lacy had two hits and two RBIs for Shawano. Jimmy Lacy earned the win after pitching seven innings before Jack Lacy worked the final two frames for the save.

Ross Wolfgram drove in Balin Welch for Freedom’s only run. Hunter Schabo took the loss after starting and going six innings.

Navarino 4, Hofa Park 2

The Navarino Rangers doubled up the Hofa Park Panthers on Sunday in Navarino.

Parker Bohm earned the win after allowing just one hit over four relief innings. Mike Nompleggi earned the save. Kendall Lecker led the Rangers (5-3) at the plate with three hits, while Ryan Boettcher and Bailey Dingeldein had two hits each.

Rob Schuettpelz had two hits and a RBI for Hofa Park (3-6). Mike Delgado suffered the loss.

Bonduel 17, Freedom 7

The Bonduel Broncos rolled to a seven-inning win over the Mets on Sunday in Bonduel. The Broncos scored the game’s final 16 runs after trailing 7-1 heading to the bottom of the second inning.

Chase Reinke hit a grand slam and finished with three runs scored for Bonduel (5-3). Barrett Bohm homered and drove in three runs, while Wyatt Reinke had two RBIs. Isaac Boldt earned the win after allowing an unearned run over 5⅔ innings.

Brad Vosters homered for Freedom (1-8). He and Balin Welch each drove in a pair. Brad Royce was dealt the loss.

Nichols 13, Shawano 3

The Nichols Nitros ended their regular season with a seven-inning home win over the Lobos on Sunday.

Sam Fonder hit a grand slam home run during Nichols’ five-run first inning. The Nitros ended the regular season with a 6-3 record.

Shawano finished with a 5-4 record.

Upcoming schedule

Bonduel will travel to take on Navarino Tuesday for the league’s final regular season game.

The league will set all the playoff matchups after that game is completed.
