Witt-Birn finishes 3-2 at invite

Wittenberg-Birnamwood earned a 3-2 record while competing at the Merrill Invite on Saturday. The Chargers topped Stanley-Boyd (25-10, 25-16), Medford (25-16, 25-17) and Athens (23-25, 26-24, 15-7) and lost to Merrill and Bay Port.

Against Stanley-Boyd, Marissa Groshek tallied nine total kills to lead the Chargers, while Kaitlyn Clark had five block kills and Madison Schwalbach three attack kills. McKenna Metropulos tallied 11 assists, Amara Schoepke served three aces and McKenna Foster had five aces and four digs. Groshek had seven attack kills, while Abi Fraaza tallied six against Medford. Metropulos had 21 assists, while Nicole Kielman and Elizabeth Muscha had eight and seven digs, respectively.

In the triumph over Athens, Groshek led Witt-Birn with 11 attack kills, while Clark had eight. Metropulos had 28 assists, Schwalbach contributed eight digs and Muscha served three aces.

In the loss to Merrill, Fraaza had 14 total kills, while Groshek had six attack kills. Metropulos finished with 15 assists and Muscha had 10 digs. Against Bay Port, Groshek had 10 attack kills, while Clark added five. Metropulos led the team with 14 assists, Foster and Muscha each had five digs and Lilly Betry served three aces.

GIRLS SWIM

Relays lead Shawano/Bonduel at invitational

Relay teams led the Shawano/Bonduel co-op at the Jaguar Invitational at the Ashwaubenon Comunity Pool on Saturday.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Allison Langlois, Gabi Bukoski, Isabel Colon and Macy Monfils turned in the top finish for the co-op on the day, taking 10th in 2 minutes, 10.25 seconds. The same quartet placed 14th in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.85.

Colon had the co-op’s top individual finish, earning 13th in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 27.96. Langlois came in 14th in 28.23. Colon was also 14th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:02.63.
