BOYS GOLF

Witt-Birn edges Bonduel at conference meet

Wittenberg-Birnamwood beat Bonduel by three shots during a Central Wisconsin Conference meet May 9 at Glacier Wood Golf Club in Iola.

Witt-Birn turned in a team score of 377, led by Calvin Scheurer's 18-hole round of 88. Nolan Fraaza and Joey Seegmiller each carded 93s, with Dylan Resch and Owen Schultz at 103 each.

Bonduel posted a score of 380. Cooper Uelmen was the meet's medalist with a round of 83. Reed Luepke carded a 94, Reece Stoltenow a 100, Sam Wolf a 103 and Jake Dreyer a 105.

Menominee Indian/Gresham finished seventh with a score of 429. Corbin Welch (88), Dugan Webster (108), Ayanna Smith (110), Trentyn Harrison (123) and Reese Nietzer (136) formed the team. Marion came in eighth with a mark of 454. Isaiah Gueths and Quinn Tolan (107 each), Sam Gueths (114), Owen Speigel (126) and Kasey Roethle (127) made up the five-golfer team.

BASEBALL

Bonduel wins a pair

Bonduel earned 12-11 and 7-4 CWC-East wins over Weyauwega-Fremont on May 9 in Bonduel.

In the 12-11 victory, which lasted eight innings, Easton Reinke led the Bears with three hits and three RBIs. Colin Margelofsky, Brodie Hartmann and Karson Stoss had two hits each, while Noah Weier scored three runs and drove in two. Charlie Tauchen and Mason Bohm each added 2 RBIs.

Mason Bohm earned the win after striking out five batters over three innings in game one. Cade Johnson earned the win in the 7-4 contest, striking out five across five innings.

Bennett Engel stole three bases and scored two runs in game two. Reinke contributed two hits.

Witt-Birn 24

Menominee Indian 3 (5 inn.)

Witt-Birn eased to a CWC-East win over Menominee Indian on May 9 in Keshena.

Evan Meverden drove in four runs on five hits and scored three times to power Witt-Birn's offense. Ian Salvesen and Nathan Waupekenay each drove in four runs on three hits, with Salvesen also scoring three runs and Waupekenay two.

Ben Wesolowski drove in two runs on two hits and scored four times for the Chargers. Chase Krull also scored four runs. Mason Meverden, Max Fraaza and Evan Meverden all pitched, with Mason Meverden earning the win after striking out six batters in three innings.

Menominee Indian scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning.

Coleman 9

Lena 0

Lena dropped a Marinette & Oconto Conference game to Coleman on May 9 in Lena.

Logan Shallow and Caleb Schlosser each had two hits for Lena.

Lane Whiting took the loss on the mound after pitching two innings. Logan Graef and Tyler Shallow worked three and two scoreless innings, respectively.

SOFTBALL

Bonduel secures CWC-East crown

Bonduel earned 2-0 and 5-0 wins over Weyauwega-Fremont on May 9 in Bonduel to win the CWC-East title.

Claire Gehm and Nakiyah Henning powered Bonduel by pitching shutouts. Gehm struck out 10 batters to help the team to its 2-0 win, while Henning had six punchouts in game two.

Abby Stoltenow and Audrey Weier scored for the Bears in game one. Tatum Sporisky, Lila Pleshek, Hailee Thompson, Ella Hischke and Macy Niles scored in the 5-0 win.

Tigerton loses 2 to Manawa

Tigerton lost 9-0 and 17-2 to Manawa in CWC-North action May 9 in Manawa.

The Tigers didn't register a hit in the 9-0 loss. Skyler Hauser took the loss in the circle.

Tigerton's Abby Swartz and Elizabeth Stueck were credited with a RBI each in the 17-2 loss. Swartz scored twice, while Jess Zimdars stole two bases. Angel Welch was dealt the loss.

Menominee Indian 4 (3 inn.)

Witt-Birn topped Menominee Indian in CWC-East play May 9 in Keshena.

Kaylee Schram homered and drove in four runs for Witt-Birn, while Jadalynn Davids also had four RBIs. Davids posted four hits and scored five times. Kiara Deruchowski drove in three runs and scored three times.

Jami Wendler picked up the win for the Chargers, while Ashlee Corn took the loss for the Eagles.

Mattea Escalante scored twice for Menominee Indian.
