BOYS GOLF

Hawks take 2nd at invite

Owen Moesch and Kaden Marcell guided Shawano to a second-place finish as a team at the Chilton Invite on May 7 at Sheboygan Town and Country Golf Course in Sheboygan.

Shawano had a team score of 320, just behind West De Pere's 318.

Moesch was the invite's medalist, shooting an 18-hole round of 72, just one over par. Marcell tied for second with a round of 74.

Ayden Hale and Akrin Verhein each fired rounds of 87 for Shawano, while Gage Gorman tallied an 88.

BASEBALL

Shawano splits with Menasha

Shawano bounced back from a 5-1 loss with a 5-2 win in eight innings during a Bay Conference doubleheader on May 7 in Menasha.

In the 5-1 loss, Zac Jurmu posted two hits for Shawano, while Joey Sperberg scored the team's run. Andrew Popp was dealt the loss on the mound after working the first four innings, while Bryce Popp worked the last two frames. Only one of the runs they allowed was earned after three errors.

Shawano scored two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to win the second game.

Andrew Popp and Braedyn Kowalkowski drove in two runs each. Ashton Henning got the win after getting the last six outs. Jacob Polzin started and struck out six batters over six strong innings.

Oconto Falls drops 2 to Lux-Casco

Oconto Falls was defeated 11-1 in a pair of North Eastern Conference matchups on May 7 in Oconto Falls.

Isaac Raddatz scored the team's lone run in the first game. Logan Kramer took the loss after pitching two innings, while Jeffrey Virtues worked four innings.

Jake Sager scored in the second game for the Panthers. Cy Vizelka led the team with two hits. Jack Adler was dealt the loss on the mound after working three innings, and Sager also tossed three innings.

SOFTBALL

Tigerton finishes 1-2 at tournament

Tigerton earned a 9-8 win over St. Thomas Aquinas Academy/Lena but lost 10-1 to Tri-County and 13-1 to Wild Rose during a tournament May 7 in Plainfield.

In its win over the co-op, Abby Swartz drove in three runs on two hits for Tigerton. Angel Welch drove in two runs, while Skyler Hauser tallied three hits and scored twice. Hauser earned the win in the circle after pitching all four innings.

In its loss to Tri-County, Hauser scored Tigerton's lone run. She also stole two bases. Welch was dealt the loss after working all four innings.

Against Wild Rose, Hauser again scored the lone run, crossing the plate on a Swartz batted ball. Hauser took the loss, while Welch also pitched.
