2 Shawano records broken at invitational

A pair of Shawano girls school records were broken during the Freedom Irish Invitational on May 5 in Freedom. The girls team ended up scoring 98 points to place second, while the boys took fifth with 56 points.

Lily Guenther set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run after placing first in 11 minutes, 48.02 seconds. Grace Chelberg completed the 1,600 in 5:20.75 to place second and set another school record.

Guenther, Chelberg, Maci Beyer and Bailey Hendricks formed the first-place finishing 4x800 relay (9:46.79).

Will Chelberg placed first in the 3,200 (10:06.93) to lead the boys team. Full results can be found online at www.athletic.net.

Oconto Falls teams both 5th at invitational

The Oconto Falls girls team scored 64 points, while the boys tallied 62 to each place second at the Two Rivers Invitational on May 6 in Two Rivers.

Brailyn St. Louis won the girls high jump (5 feet, 2 inches) and 100-meter hurdles (17.11 seconds) to lead the team. Maddy Przybylski, Brynn Hodkiewicz, Ava Hodkiewicz and Hailey Delzer teamed up on the first-place finishing girls 4x800 relay (10:50.76).

Ben Adams placed second in the boys 3,200 (10:10.25) and joined Griffin Kopke, Brant Laluzerne and Emerson Rice on the second-place finishing 4x800 relay (8:55.36).

BOYS GOLF

Pulaski 4th at FRCC meet

Pulaski turned in a fourth-place finish after tallying a team score of 165 at a Fox River Classic Conference meet on May 5 at Brown County Golf Course in Hobart.

Brady Hayward tied for the fifth-best individual score overall and led the Red Raiders with a nine-hole round of 39.

Dylan Carley, Colin Schultz and Connor Burant each fired rounds of 42 for Pulaski. Dixon Holewinski carded a 43.

SOFTBALL

Oconto Falls sweeps Waupaca

Oconto Falls earned 6-0 and 13-4 North Eastern Conference wins over Waupaca on May 5 in Waupaca.

Madeline Maloney drove in two runs to lead Oconto Falls in its 6-0 win. Amelia Danielczak scored two runs.

Lily Kurek earned the win in the circle, striking out seven batters over seven innings while surrendering just three hits and a walk. Randi Metzler got the win in game two, striking out nine in a complete game effort.

Danielczak homered among her three hits and drove in three runs to lead the way at the plate in game two. Keira Cole and Madison Uelmen drove in three runs each, while Uelmen also scored twice. Hanna Krejcarek chipped in four hits and scored three runs, while Metzler had three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Rosholt 6

Tigerton 2

Tigerton dropped a Central Wisconsin Conference crossover game to Rosholt on May 5 in Rosholt.

Skyler Hauser tallied three hits for Tigerton, while Lillian Welch had the team's other two hits.

Hauser took the loss in the circle after pitching five innings. Angel Welch worked the final inning.

BASEBALL

Omro 6

Witt-Birn 2

Wittenberg-Birnamwood fell to Omro in a nonconference matchup on May 5 in Omro.

Keegan Benbo tallied two of Witt-Birn's five hits. Mason Meverden and Nathan Waupekenay drove in a run each.

Hayden Miller took the loss after working five innings. Keegan Schmid worked one frame.

Wausaukee 9

Lena 7

Lena fell in a Marinette & Oconto Conference game to Wausaukee on May 5 in Wausaukee. The teams were tied at seven after two innings.

Josh Kristof drove in three of Lena's runs, while Caleb Schlosser had two RBIs.Bryce Kittredge finished with three hits, while he, Kittredge and Tyler Shallow scored twice each.

Logan Graef worked the first two innings for Lena, allowing just one earned run. Kristof worked an inning before Dane Comins tossed three innings.
