BASEBALL

Shawano 14

Antigo 4 (5 inn.)

Shawano scored at least two runs in each inning and cruised to a nonconference win over Antigo on April 28 in Shawano.

Andrew Popp tallied three hits and four RBIs to power Shawano’s offense. Zac Jurmu and Carson Popp drove in two runs each, with Jurmu also scoring four runs.

Carson Popp, Ashton Henning and Bryce Popp all scored two runs. Jurmu stole three bases, while Henning had two. Shawano walked twice and only struck out once.

Michael Metcalf-Grassman picked up the win on the mound after striking out six batters over four innings. Two of the four runs he allowed were unearned. Deacon Carroll struck out two batters in a scoreless inning of work.

Witt-Birn 9

Shiocton 3

Wittenberg-Birnamwood jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back in a Central Wisconsin Conference-East Division win over Shiocton on April 28 in Shiocton.

Evan Meverden, Pierson Potrykus and Ben Wesolowski all drove in two runs for Witt-Birn, with Wesolowski also scoring twice. Ian Salvesen scored three times, while Quinton Sippl crossed the plate twice.

The Chargers drew seven walks in the contest and struck out just three times.

Calvin Scheurer earned the win on the mound after allowing just one run over five innings. Potrykus pitched the final two innings.

Bonduel sweeps Menominee Indian

Bonduel earned 10-2 and 12-1 wins over Menominee Indian in a CWC-East doubleheader on April 28 in Bonduel.

In game one, Mason Bohm earned the win on the mound after striking out nine batters over five innings. Noah Weier tossed four scoreless innings and struck out nine to earn the win in game two.

Colin Margelofsky and Karson Stoss tallied two hits each in game one for Bonduel, while Weier, Bohm and Stoss all drove in two runs. Weier and Charlie Tauchen both drove in three runs on two hits in game two.

George Bruette Jr. and Josh Besaw Jr. took the losses for Menominee Indian.

Marion 15

White Lake 0 (5 inn.)

Marion routed White Lake in a CWC-North clash on April 28 in White Lake. The Mustangs are now 5-0.

Alex Zimmerman and Jay Brei teamed up to toss the shutout. Zimmerman struck out eight batters over four innings before Brei struck out the side in the fifth.

Jaden Stuhr posted three RBIs on three hits to power Marion's offense. Brandon Peterson, Jackson Krohn and Brei all added two RBIs on a pair of hits. Ryan Malueg finished with three hits and a run batted in.

Lena sweeps Gillett/Suring

Lena finished off a 15-6 win from a game that was suspended and then toppled Gillett/Suring 9-1 in another Marinette & Oconto Conference game on April 28 in Lena.

In the 15-6 win, Josh Kristof drove in four runs on three hits for Lena, while Logan Shallow, Bryce Kittredge, Sam Marquardt and Lane Whiting had two RBIs each. Shallow and Whiting scored three runs each. Shallow tossed six innings and allowed just one earned run before Logan Graef got the final three outs.

In the 9-1 win, Shallow again earned the win, striking out five over 3⅓ innings. Graef got the final five outs. At the plate, Whiting drove in three runs and Graef two, while Tyler Shallow, Luke Misco and Logan Shallow scored two runs each.

Menasha 2

Shawano picked up its second Bay Conference win after downing Menasha on April 28 in Shawano.

Josh Bergmann (No. 2) and Tristan Sheldon (No. 3) earned singles wins for Shawano. Tristan Tetting and Isaac Welander (No. 1), Andrew Vandenheuvel and Seth Williams (No. 2) and Ryan Buerman and Jack Reed (No. 3) won in doubles action.

Marion improved to 4-1 on the season after topping Gillett/Suring on April 28 in Marion.

Morgan Schwartz earned the win in the circle for Marion.

Bonduel tops Menominee Indian twice

Bonduel earned 16-0 and 17-0 wins over Menominee Indian in CWC-East action on April 28 in Bonduel.

Bonduel's Claire Gehm tossed three perfect innings to help the team to a 16-0 win in game one.

Nakiyah Henning pitched three innings and allowed just one hit in the 17-0 win in game two.

Alexis Wilber and Aniya Peters pitched in game one for the Eagles, while Peters was the only pitcher in game two.

Green Bay East 6

Shawano 1

Shawano couldn't get things going in a Bay match loss to Green Bay East on April 28 in Shawano.

Adison Moesch netted the Hawks' goal at the 79:39 mark of the contest.

Goalie Brynlie Boyles had 10 saves for Shawano.
